Well all i try to make a Suggestion like i did on page 79, i am not saying that casuals and hardcore Players cant Play together i am not saying that they should get rid of the whole game and make a 3.0. All i want is to Play with larger Groups and deal with Exploration and longer Lasting Content, i dont say it Need to be for 3-4 years to obtain the item, i say that i cant enjoy a armory System when i can probably gear out 2 classes from 5 i want to pimp because every 6 months i get new gear and all my effort before has gone to the Dogs.

But it goes back to my original point, if the core of the player base enjoys the game (these people are the ones that are here now), and they have the resources to continue to produce content, they can give the core a chance to evolve, IF (huge if) they choose to evolve the game over time and not just release the same sh*t over and over ad nauseum.

I have hope that the game will evolve, and not stagnate or god forbid devolve. I like the game enough at this point in time that if it stayed the same for a year I would probably still play because more and more of my IRL friends are starting to play ^^. I absolutely understand your PoV (i think we have different points of view, but I 100% understand yours).

as you said, they took a game that took 7 years to make (1.x) in 1 year... obviously there are going to be things missing.
This is a fair argument as to why the game is currently lacking in ways. Hopefully there future plans are not equally as empty and rushed, hopefully they don't try to make up for the lack of content by simply adding more dungeons and pvp matches, although more of this content is good to have there still remains the issue of a serious lack of options and lack of verity in progression and no end game outside world content. By saying this I'm not saying they shouldn't add more dungeons and pvp, they defiantly should but they can't expect us to be satisfied if that's the only content available for end game.

The problems with crafting classes having very limited if not pretty much no use for end game is a pretty big game breaker for craters, so this should also probably be addressed perhaps by adding some obtainable rare mats from outside world content that can be crafted into max level armour sets.

I think if they want to bring back some heart/soul to the game and there looking for something to use as a reference then it doesn’t get much better than FFXI in that respect.

Yeah it would have been nice to meet us half way with something instead of going from one extreme to the complete opposite extreme.

Waiting/trying for hours for a party when playing a THF pre-Abyssea was a pretty dismal experience a lot of the time. It wasn't until later when THF was given additional useful enmity/TH abilities that people actually wanted one in their party over other jobs.
Everyone says "for hours" but at most on a bad day it took an hour to find a party (and Duty Finder has queues that take up to an hour anyway!). If you were proactive and used /sea to search for party members, you could build one pretty quickly. I guess if you just flagged seeking party and sat in Jueno all day it would take a long time.

I like that guy's post cuz it made me laugh, not yours Magis, the other guy's that you quoted. Having a THF for Sa/Ta was all but mandatory in the oldest days. They stayed popular until the last stages of ToAU. THF fell out of good graces around the time skillchains died. Even still, every group that was serious about some high level encounter took at least one thief. I think he meant to complain that drg, rng, drk, and bst had hard times finding parties.

They embraced this for ARR, eff teamwork, just mash your buttons!

Honestly no joking around here I never had these problems in FFXI, maybe once or twice it was hard to find members because it was JP prime time or something but that's about it. I still managed to put together partys even at those times because the Auto Translate Function was like a billion times better back then than it is now.

I think for some XI players part of the reason players wouldn't make party's is because they were often afrade to make party's outside the basic set up, yet I was never afrade to try new things. One of the best party's I had was actually 4 Dragoons 1 Bard 1 Corsair. The exp was insane, "This was before abyssea"

We wiped both bird camps on our own with a practically endless exp chain, the only time the exp chain broke was when we ended the party.
No healer, no tank, just Dragoon bird killer, Max buffs from brd+cor and healing breath for the win.

Here is an example of a similar party. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQlDe-udYws

I'm shocked that SE have so much difficulty coming up with ideas these days. It's almost like they don't even know there own product anymore.

As someone who played FFXI for a long time and really loved it, I will say I don't have time for that a game like that in my life anymore, and even if I did I'm not sure I'd want to devote that much time into it. That being said, I've tried a lot of other MMOs (WoW, Rift, SWTOR, Warhammer, Tera) and I've not been able to get into any of them. They are all themepark style games, with spammy dodgeball combat, and even if the story is good, constantly being assaulted by gameplay mechanics kills any sense of immersion for me. What ARR does, I don't think it does too poorly (baring a few glaring exceptions like crafting) I just wish it did something different. Personally, I felt like 1.23 was a good compromise between FFXI and "modern" MMO mechanics and my frustration comes from the fact that ARR diverged from 1.23 so heavily.

This is conjecture on my part, but I feel like "modern" MMOs are no longer tailored to people who like RPGs primarily, but are targeted to a larger audience (which is understandable). It's just disappointing that there is no longer an MMO that offers exactly want I want. Maybe this means I just need to give up on the genre, and perhaps I will. I am reluctant to do so though because I really want to like FFXIV and play MMOs, I'm just not sure I can with the direction it's going.

Just offering a rational perspective from someone who isn't 100% happy with ARR.
