As good as that detailed model looks, the pets are designed with the same limitations that minions have.

You'll notice their detail is lacking, to help lower stress on the PS3 version of the game.

And so pets, like Egi's, are treated with low textures, and low poly counts.

FFXI - 1999-2001 developed Playstation 2 MMORPG has full detailed (for that platform) Avatars (Summons), that's not an argument. They stated it wasn't PS3 limitation in any shape or form, Yoshi simply hated seeing people with multiple copies of a powerful beast as a pet as he felt it "cheapened" them.

I've given up any hope of SE making a decent summoner class, even in their offline games summoning has become a flashy light show that does crap for damage. In XIV it isn't even that, it's a freaking puppet show with crap for damage. I don't even bother with the Arcanist jobs anymore.

You either don't play a Summoner or have no idea how one works. Tyvm. Summoner is one of the strongest dps in the game right now. Even after our nerf.

You are summoning them in spirit, rather than their physical form. (And like the Bogy enemies, they still take dmg from physical stuff, and do physical dmg with melee attacks.)

And a lot of people see ghosts as floating beings.
The avatars in FFXI were 'spirits' or 'fragments of power' of the beings sleeping in the crystals, but Titan walked on the ground in that game too. The rest of them floated.

BUT, on topic, the design is amazing and after reading the modding wish thread this morning, makes me wish I could replace my Egi's even more.

And to Ecks, no one wants egi's the size of primals. No one. We just want better details and to feel like the Egi has a significant presence on the battlefield.

I'm fairly certain I know how Summoner works.

(Also I've heard this argument before and it just makes you sound petty on top of not knowing how to use basic search functions.)

That being said, I said "summoning" not "summoners".

I don't know, I think they did an excellent job in WoTL.

Yes, they were flashy, but they had a good AoE effect, and were capable of ignoring magic resistance, had some powerful OHKO moves and some useful buffing/debuffing moves.

I wouldn't trust Yoshi as far as i could throw him... He's said many things, and then gone back or changed the end result of just as many things.

And seriously.. when you're hoping to market to the PS3 users, do you -really- think that any company with an ounce of sense would say "Oh yeah, those PS3 users are totally holding back the game for the PC users, but please don't treat them any different"? They can come up with countless BS excuses to cut down on certain points of the game and never, ever have to admit that the PS3 had anything to do with them. (I don't begrudge the PS3 users, it's not like they say said to reduce the quality of some systems.)

I'm happy enough with the majority of the game (Though, are always things that get on my nerves and i'm never afraid to voice them), but don't for a minute think that SQE has been open and honest every step of the way.

Onto the topic at hand though. I would much prefer that model than the thing that i refuse to summon ('cause it really is the worst of the summons, functionally speaking.)

    Commission Artwork

    To OP, Moroh Khon

I'm in the process of having my character custom created as a 1/6 scale figure and I've been looking into how I may go about creating the Egi's to go along with it. I was wondering if there's any chance at all that you would be able to commission this Ifrit Egi status as a custom piece of art? Please let me know! Thank you!!

Not an excuse. in fact there are minions with far more detail than summoner egi. Even scholar fairies are better designed and textured that summoner egis.

The 'low texture fbcuz system limitations' argument doesn't work because it doesnt hold up to closer scrutiny of all the other things that are better designed and detailed in comparison
