I'm sure adding one of the most popular job among FF fans (ninja, samurai, dark knight) as a tank would make a lot of people who are not usually interested in tank roles play it and potentially make them enjoy it.

I would also, but I think its a bit illogical at this point. WARs can self heal and PLDs can too (albeit lulzy as hell). Id rather see PLDs get MND gear so that they can just spam Cure in some fights but I digress.
if they make DNC a tank (again) I wouldn't play it. I do think that they need an EVA tank (Im thinking ala Berserker from FFX-2)
I would tank if they introduced a tank job that interested me. PLD and WAR just don't do it for me.
Now add Templar as a tank job for Lancer and we can talk.
Couldn't agree more, glad you said it first.because we totally need a nin tank in CT tanking behemoth, mess up shadows and getting 1 shotted, and then running loose wiping the whole raid! Sign me up! /sarcasm. I hated nin tank in ffxi, it was nothing more than an exploit. Maybe OT in rare occasions if the MT went down, or accidental add, but they were much better DD's imo.
Why not say we need more healer jobs? For the same reason as the above quote. People don't want to play these jobs, they are tough, and get blamed when things go wrong. People would much rather be mindless button mashing DD's.
Whats wrong with PLD and War? What could they do different that all of a sudden make people want to play it?

Thing is... In FFXI... ninja was never meant to be a tank. SE Failed to make it not be played as a tank and let it slide. If they were to release ninja in this game, they would probably rectify that and make it a dps. But maybe it would be capable of tanking and SE goes "yeah, but we're forcing you to que as dps" thanks to the instance system in this game, they could do that.
We all want to see new jobs, but they need to make party sizes bigger for them to all work well together imo.
1. Make horizontal progression gear
2. Make a few items that boost pets:
- one that gives skill that drains mp per seconds and make pet generate aoe enmity per seconds
- another that gives trait that makes 25% damage taken by pet go to summoner
- a trait that makes "Physic" cast on own pet scale of (MND + INT)/2 instead of MND
- Full set gives summoner "tank stance" that makes pet AND summoner generate additional aggro from damaging skills, increase pet hp by 10%,
make pet take 10% reduced dmg, and lower smn dps by 15 %.
3. Now SMN can spec as a tank.
I agree, and I was loathe to use it in FFXI. An interesting mechanic for non (you know, considering they shouldn't be seen by the enemy) would be that they are automatically top of the enmity chart if they are face to face with the enemy. If they want to tank (again, why?) they can. They have a built in provoke by being face to face with the enemy. But, if they want to really be a ninja, one of their mechanics would be to constantly be out of enemy sight.

Dance tanking was largely evasion/parry based rather then defense based, so it would be considered an evasion tank. the main difference between dancer being a heal tank and war/pal self heals is that a true heal tank uses its heals to generate aggro rather damage combos.
