It is one thing to try and prove that summoner is over powered by showcasing an even play field where comparable equipment and stats end in wildly different results.

It is another thing entirely to try and prove summoner is over powered by running around in full i90 gear against people who at times look to be wearing i55 at best while also chugging potions that bump up your primary stat.

This video does not simply prove summoner to be an over powered class, it proves that the morale system is ridiculously broken.

In PvP the roles of classes change compared to PvE, tanks become damage dealers, black mages become crowd control and summoners become burst damage. The matter is that the morale system is at its most broken when looking at burst damage and that is why summoner stands out so much.

The reason so many summoners don't believe their class is THAT over powered isn't simply because they're greedy and want to have an advantage in pvp. It's because the majority of players don't fall into the extreme end of the spectrum. Your average player doesn't chug potions and may have half a full set of i70 gear and although they can deal a decent bit of burst damage they're doing it against people with similar builds who can often take that damage and come back from it.

I think the reason SMNs don't believe their class is overpowered in both PvE and PvP is because they're really just not doing anywhere near their potential damage. The endgame SMNs I see in full i90 show a complete disregard for any knowledge pertaining to their optimal rotations on specific fights. I mean, the guy I quoted posts a video of him doing Titan and it makes me cringe, and the majority of SMNs do even less damage than him and still win parses despite parsers not tracking the buffed increase (Raging Strikes/buffed INT) of DOTs, Shadowflare, or crits on your DOTs.

Take a SMN who actually knows their stuff and they absolutely demolish all the endgame content without other jobs coming close, and virtually one-shot people in PvP - with or without i90 gear and potions. I don't expect many players to believe or understand this seeing as the chances of you playing with a great SMN are so small, but if you did have any experience, you wouldn't be here arguing against it.

If summoners were truly so over powered we wouldn't constantly be seeing people posting screen shots and videos of nothing but i90 + Mega int potion monsters wiping the floor with people wearing pve and i55 pvp gear. Because the alternative is your average person with a mix of i55 and i70 gear up against people with similar setups doing high end damage but in no way just demolishing the field in seconds unless their team is organized, lucky and up against horrible opponents.

My argument was that if a person can't optimize their DPS in PvE, there's no chance they're doing things correctly in PvP. Nothing pathetic about my comparison at all.

It's actually a lot easier to do in PvP than PvE. PvP uses a small subset of SMN skill to achieve max burst damage. PvE uses almost 3 times as many.

PvP.. you pop a bunch of buffs (int pot, raging, rouse, spur) then toss out some instant/off-GCD skills (ruin II, energy drain, enkindle, aetheric burst) to kill someone. This is like 1/4 of what you would normally have to utilize in PvE.

As far as DPS optimization goes, PvP is very easy in comparison. Positioning/etc. is an entirely different conversation.
