Dear god, I hope they've finalized at least that much. . .Hell I'd just settle for the list of what classes become what jobs. Gladiator becomes Paladin, neat-o, and while I'm more interested in how a bunch of burly pit-fighters become holy crusaders than I am about the actual combat changes, I'd really appreciate a detail or two.
I know, I know, "we're working on it, please be patient, nothing is finalized yet so I can't say anything."

The things you're missing are thisI was just playing for the past few hours. Nothing too strenuous just milling around and chatting to LS. Then I went and hit some things and as I was swinging my sword wildly I though: "Bloody hell the dev team has got a job on their hands!" By no means was that a direct comment at the combat but rather a realization that they are basically RE-DOING the battle system.
They now have to adjust every single skill/ability in the game. Removing the Stamina bar means writing script for the effects of slow,haste,w/e to auto adjust timers.
On top of this removing phys levels and pretty much giving "fixed" stats depending what class you are. Not only do they have to work out a way to re-balance every class but they also have to come up with a way to transfer your exp so far into this new system.
Then there's the new jobs system and the skills/inner-workings of that.
Dungeons - 'nuff said
New NM's/mobs
New recipes - again....
New quests (for jobs system, but quests all the same)
and people are complaining that there hasnt been much word from the homefront? When these are set to drop in the next week or so in 1.18 spare a thought for how much workload is actually on their shoulders! I'd imagine they'll be working some crazy hours on the run-up to 1.18 release.
(That being said it may land with a flopping sound roll over spill out 2 quests and a new hat with a note on saying "I promise 1.19 will be better"! But here's hoping it's not the case!)
1. They wont be redoing every skill, some skills are already fine, such things as Protect just giving added defence, there is no reason to go in and edit that to... well Add defence, again, a lot of spells very similar, debuffs similar, infact a lot of skills will call up a function and use specific value sets (skill > attack(Strmod:5)) etc. So it would just be basically editing values that the physical attribute system will calculation and then a battle class would implement and execute. This is assuming they've built it right and not forgot object oriented programmer....
2. All those rebalancing will probably fuck up and there will be several patches afterwards to fix issues. They adjust stats in beta like 5 times.
3. Your "EXP" is being removed, from your physical leve, so they not transfering it, or doing anything, its gone.
4. There hasnt been any new word of new NMs but honest this is not hard, it will most likely be copy/paste mob with some bigger stats. Dungeon areas are already complete and in-game (have been since release) so its just a case of throwing in some mobs, maybe making some sort of scripted objected (tho we dont know) and throwing in a copy/paste mob with bigger stats at the end who drops phatloots
5. The job system is not coming 1.18 or we've had no confirm for it. So there wont be new quests for it at this time.
6. They no doubt work 9-5, mon-fri and thats it, very minimal in the industry. That is what all the reps do. And it shows in the dev team by how slow they are

because it will be nowhere near as big as has been hyped up to be. this is why saying we will put this or that in while discussing how great 1.18 will be and the size of it will turn around and bite them. they are vague with answers so everyone reads what is written and has to guess of the meaning.
if he said in 1.18 we are working on and trying to implement this this and this, but in future patches we will be adding more stuff to it then people would know what to expect. some expect the patch to be huge, but i doubt it will be anything to brag about. auto attack and a few half finished dungeons with major issues will likely be all we see. if i am wrong you are welcome to call me out on it after the patch and i will eat my words, but i just don't believe it will be this fantastic patch to turn this game back from the brink.
