    Thief Job/Ninja Job

I don't know if this has been posted before, since I haven't been able to track anything down, but a suggestion for adding in a Thief Job (not starter class) would be:

    Gladiator: lvl 30
    Pugilist: lvl 15

Since the gladiator already uses daggers, it stands to reason to use it as the basis for a Thief Job. Now for the Job itself, it would use certain skills from gladiator, save for any of the aggro producing skills. Replace those with skills that either transfer aggro onto the tank, or make their aggro dwindle. I'm no programmer, so I can't say how hard this would be, but it could be a basis to start somewhere for a Thief Job.

As for the Ninja, you could use the combination of:

    Pugilist: 30
    Archer: 15

using the monks natural two handed features to dual wield kunai or a katana/wakizashi set that is equip-able in a single weapon slot, like the monks/pugilists fist weapons.

What does everyone think? Also, don't know if this is in the right forum or not.

Took all of 5 seconds to search for it. There are others as well.

I"m actually hoping for Assasin/Dancer Class/Job someday, but that is off-topic. If we have those classes it would most likely be a progression from "Thief" to "Ninja", which would be a reference to the original Final Fantasy, I think.

If it allows me to stab people in the back I'm all for it.

That would most likely be more in line with the assassin from FFTA (Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced) since it specialized in one hit kills I believe. The ninja class in FF always has dual-wielding and the ability to throw shuriken and bombs.

Well for the Thief job being Gladiator, that would be a no, because Gladiators also use Shields and it's in their animation on how they attack. Thief will be based off a new class in the future. And ninja, the idea behind it being puglist sound right, but again Ninja's would be carrying Kunai (or small swords) and would be doing slashing and stabbing motions, puglists animation is all punching so it wouldn't work. Although the different forms would imo make sense for ninja, BUT an alternative would make more sense as dancer, again the differnt forms and dancers can use their fists. Gladiator would be Dark Knight like Cecil FF4, possibly Magic Knight also, or Red mage.. again have to consider the animation and weapon style of the base class.

I think GLD would most likely be DRK and Mystic Knight would be an ADVANCED Job combining PLD and BLM just like BLM and WHM would form RDM in Yoshi-P's example.

thought about which class thief would come from. GLadiator because of swords? No they also equip heavy armor, use shields, generate hate.

would need a rouge or freelancer type class to become thief and potentially other sword wielding classes.

I'm with Akirakogami. I would think that the Thief job would come from a Rogue class or would be a base discipline itself and would probably turn into the Ninja class as it did in the original Final Fantasy. That would make the most sense to me, but who knows. In a similar vein, I thought it would be cool if they added a new Discipline entirely for these types of classes. Maybe Disciples of Speed or Disciples of Stealth that would add new mechanics besides just basic DPS. Maybe they could have extreme burst damage that generates massive enmity, but the point would be balancing that by using stealth skills to cool down your own enmity or maybe the ability to transfer it to other party/alliance members. Ideally to tanks obviously. That's a lot of ifs and maybe, but I figure I would throw it in if we are talking about hypothetical scenario's here. I'm just waiting for Dark Knight anyways to be honest.

Scout was mentioned at some point in time as a base class for thief, it'll be a long time before we see that though, as they've already stated the desire to introduce the second jobs for classes already in game.
