Yes, you don't want to ruin the experience....except the main problem is people don't know how to dodge. "I'm new" is no excuse for standing in front of Ultima or getting hit by everything like it's going out of style.
Why play game at all if you want to experience it through videos first? Just unsub and watch videos as other FCs beat all the content.
Some people prefer to be humans and exhibit intelligence and learning, some prefer to be monkeys and just imitate others. "Use this strat, bc I saw it in a video!" leads to a very dumb community.
Not everyone wants to be spoiled with videos. Then again thats why I always join teams interested in server firsts or at least tackling content without simply copying other people's videos.
I hate watching videos about stuff, I like to be surprised.
Having said that, there is a difference between being stupid and being somewhat intelligent. If you are somewhat intelligent you don't have to watch movies about primals and go in being completely new and still win, its really not that hard that u have to watch a video of it. Like in Titan Extreme, there is a giant GTFO! area on teh ground "hmm what should I do? Stay in or GTFO!?".
Me personally the first time i did Garuda extreme, Titan Extreme and Ifrit Extreme I won and never watched a video mainly cause u know, it tells you to GTFO of the way and I GTFO of the way.
ITs not that . I am all for if someone is new and has watched a video im cool with that . And also i have made a ton of PF parties with the caption please know the fight or have watched the video even if you have not cleared . And you always get the one guy after going to the fight never done this before . Or you can clearly tell they have never done it before .
But at the same time, if you want someone to explain everything to you and cater to the playstyle of 'not knowing the strategy', should you not also seek out your own party before using the Duty Finder? It's a double edged sword that could easily be swung both ways in this sort of arguement, and it's one that doesn't necessarily help out either side.
I'll still always try to explain things to people. But I must agree with the OP - at least trying to watch the video, and if you have questions, bring them to the table and we'll explain more in-depth (The interaction often helps more than listening to a video.) All the OP is asking for is a little homework to be done before venturing into some of the harder content.
I try to do my research before every dungeon and boss. If I'm playing with a group, I want to do my job right.
Still, that's hardly any reason to be 'elitist' towards people still learning the mechanics or don't have the perfect gear yet.
I hate people like you, they refuse to watch a video because they say they want the "experience" then 5 min into the fight they say what should I do and i have to explain it to them anyhow. Had that happen with a tank with coil turn 1, refused to watch the video then I had to explain the entire fight to him. Waste of my time, waste of the squads time, waste of his time as the run ultimately failed.
It's like going to take a exam at school and not studying because you want to "experience" it, well enjoy experiencing failing cause that is what's going to happen.
A video game and School, or any RL thing are pretty um............ well massively freaking different.
Pro tip, if you pay attention in school, and do your homework you will never have to study for an exam at school and will get an A.
Same logic .... IF your level 50 and doing X mode Primals or HM Ultima by now you should know to gtfo out things on the floor and avoid AoE and cone attacks .
Let's just all watch FFXIV on video and not even play it. Because you know, I am so offended and stuff.
