    Quests, major improvement!

I recently logged into the game again after quite a long break, I didn't picture the game as something really fun. I like the environments and the atmosphere but there was nothing really keeping me in-game.

I appeared in Limsa and started doing my usual stuff, I grabbed some leves, then I hired a new retainer since i'd learned that we were allowed more than one, and organised my sellables into there, then as I was running over to the market wards I saw a symbol I hadn't seen before, the quest symbol.

The quest I was given was to go and spread false rumours about a cake which infatuates the eater with the chef. I found the writing to be entertaining, although the fact that the markers would only appear on an exclusive map, one at a time, made it a bit tedious to navigate.

On my travels during that quest I found loads more quests, including some that took me out of town, so I finished everything I could within town and then ran out of town to do the quests out there. They all involved defeating monsters but one of them had it's own instance in a cave, and they all felt fun and were aimed just about right difficulty wise.

While I was out there I also did my leves, then I tp'd back to town and handed in the quests, and once again the writing here was pretty good. I felt like i'd learned things about Eorzea that I didn't know before, and I can see now that the dev team are starting to make good on their promise to make Final Fantasy XIV fun. Also they're giving the NPC's some character, also they mention places in the world that we didn't know about before.

I went to Gridania and found a whole new set of quests, and I can only assume that Ul'Dah has them too, so i'm pretty happy, these quests are highly entertaining and they compliment guildleves really well. We just need a constant stream of them I guess.

Looking at the planned updates such as the job system changes and the grand companies, new raid style dungeons and OTHER STUFF, i'd say the future is starting to look quite bright for Final Fantasy XIV. Just by adding these quests, they've made the design of the towns shine that much more, so with more and more additions, the existing content will also begin to feel less empty.

It is quite nice that they added these but it was a bit late for me. By the time they added it all the equipment rewards were things I already had or didn't need. I could have used this stuff when it first came out but now there is really no reason to complete these other than the storyline. It would be cool if they offer rare/ex equipment only done through quests even if its a ring or earring or something.

Yeah, I did a quest and received the item. Then I turn around and sold it npc due to spacing issue. Maybe just me I don't know what the point for me to do them.

I like the quests. They help to keep things progressing throughout your grind through the levequests and behests. My character is entirely battlecraft focused, so it's not very likely that I'm going to be focusing on much else. I'm just hoping that they bring around an end-game boss. NMs might be fun to kill every now and then, but without an end-game boss, the story just isn't complete. Afterall, it's been over a year, and the game still doesn't have an end or any expansions.

I think that they should focus on finishing the regular story, and then adding a lot of new things... new items, weapons, magic, classes, all that good stuff. People that are level 50 will have something to do again instead of just trying to kill the NMs, and there'll be more options for those that are new to the game (not to mention a reason to bring up some marketing, and make it so that people know about the game (I work at Wal*Mart, and refer people to FFXIV all the time, and most (even those that play other MMOs like RIFT, WoW, and Star Wars: The Old Republic) say that they never knew about FFXIV)).

Quests are great, but you can only kill NMs for so long after you get to level 50, and then you need something like an end-game boss to give you a challenge (note: End-game Boss should be at least level 54 with a single player, and gain a lot of strength as more players join the party to try to beat it, after all, RPGs got popular because of their difficulty and engrossing storyline, don't forget that SE; don't be Blizzard and give your players an easy win. It leads to a lack of satisfaction in the game's end. Difficult final bosses made the FF series (Chaos in FF1 was really hard in the early to mid 40's, The final boss in FF3 was damn near impossible at any level, FF6 was a different challenge all the time depending on your party setup, Safer Sephiroth in FF7 was epically amazing, Greaver in FF8 was a real challenge, and the list goes on and on. I've been following FF for over 20 years, and I will be very dissappointed if they don't follow through with another epic final boss in this game in the near future.)

FF6-8 and 10 final bosses were no challenge whatsoever. 1-5,9 were.

I've never found FF end bosses to be much of a challenge in any of the games.

Kuja/Necroblobobob or whatever his name was at the end of IX wasn't a challenge.

Well if you do all the side quests and grind then any final boss is easy, goes for pretty much any game.

they really need to add mini bosses into these quests, maybe 1rare/ex every 100quests completed or something. but my main problem is that they are not caped. again ffxi quests would of been so much more awsome if they alllllll were caped, and it would make this games missions soooooo much more better aswell.

for example there was a cardian battle where like 20cardians pop and start wailing you, it's soloable at 75 but the epicness of these quest battles if they just caped it would be amazingly fun. and i mean u can't really just go ok i'ma go get me a party of rank 30's and do it this way cause people would be like erm no thanks lol.

all quests can be just as epic as a endgame battle if they only would add caps to it. i think this might deserve its own thread post to talk about cause i would really love to see this happen.
