Make FFXIV more like FFXI and less like WoW

And no one is asking for a copy of Final Fantasy 11. They are simply asking for something that followed in similar fashion rather another WoW imitator.

Having played WoW on/and/off since launch (as well as trying almost every MMO launched), I can tell you this game is VERY different from it. Yes there are some similarities, the most striking of which is the Tome system. But again, none of the borrowed features are bad. And if you've played every MMO, you'll note they have ALL borrowed many features from previous MMOs.

What me and others wanted was for them to use Final Fantasy 11 as a guide. To build upon what the game achieved and improve upon it. Not completely abandon it and use WoW as a foundation instead.

This game is basically WoW with better graphics and more lag. So we just disagree.

You could do BCNMs
You could Kill Behemoth and a few other "HNM"
Level Cap was I don't remember ? 50? 65?

That was it for End Game, until Rise of Zilart came about. Then you had Dynamis, Sky and a couple more HNMs.

Give this game time to bloom. It is still a baby and it will continue to grow. Right now it is catering to casual gamers and keeping them happy. As the subs fall off and the avg character level rises they will add in more End Game, time consuming, content.

Exactly instead of using WoW as a guide they could of used FFXI as a guide and just make it as casual friendly but there seems to be this misunderstanding that most FFXI fans want something extremely grindy and non soloable. Like hellooooo you don't see Bioware copy FF games.

Aren't you making the point FFXI and FFXIV are fundamentally different games? One being more asian-influenced grind and one being more wow-influenced accessible then they aren't directly competing with each other, else there would be no point for both games to exist. Now you're stating they are competing with each other? MageBlack makes a fair point. Just because one did get negatively impacted by the release of a new game doesnt really imply they are directly competing with themselves. They are competing with the MMO community as a whole.

While 1.0 has had plenty of time to 'bloom' yes. ARR has not....


The devs spent their time completely remaking the game. you need to look at this as a brand new game. not a game that has been out since 2010.

Anyway my post was eluding to the fact that they have time to implement more features and change some aspects of the game.

He said SE shouldn't compete with themselves for subscriptions. Yet the release of Final Fantasy 14 has hurt the population of Final Fantasy 11 dramatically. So that is exactly what they have done.

Yes, they are different games. But they are still both Final Fantasy games, and they are essentially competing with themselves for subscriptions. It was a flawed argument that collapsed on itself.
