Highest Crit ive seen on my PLD is like 800 or so and thats very rare since our best attack is based on how much HP we have at the time of use. On my WAR I almost always get over 1000 Crit with buffs up. And turn off Defiance and that chance is increased even more. I dont think I ever seen a PLD break 1000+

Pretty sure he's not talking about getting huge crits but rather the "able to DPS" descriptor that's being ascribed to WAR.

Also, Crit damage != high DPS. If it were, my WAR as a tank would be dealing more damage than the BRDs that I run with (the highest they get is 600 or something, which is about as hard as my non-crit BB). WAR has short periods of high damage (Unchained + Berserk + Internal Release); PLD has longer periods of increased damage (Fight or Flight) as well as a crapton more individual hits/ticks (faster attack speed, Sword Oath, CoS for DoTs all the time). The same is true of the healers (SCH and WHM damage are all about DoTs, except for Holy which is for the AoEs).

DPS is explicitly the average damage dealt for one second over a long period of time. A single data point in the form of a critical hit means next to nothing.
