Open Letter to Naoki Yoshida: When Will Legacy->Non-Legacy World Transfers be Allowed

Dear Director/Producer Yoshida,

This letter is not a request to allow transfers from Legacy worlds to Non-Legacy worlds. This is simply a request to release specific information as to when/if it will become available.

I understand that you and your team have reasons for not allowing this type of transfer, currently. I would like to know when or if they will be allowed in the future, so I can make an informed decision about whether or not to start over with a new character on the Non-Legacy world that my friends are playing on.

I understand that you probably don't have a specific date ready to release or you would have already released it, in this case, can you please provide a date range? For example: 1-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-12 months, longer, or never.

I love Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn! I would love to play with my friends that started on a Non-Legacy world without abandoning my character on a Legacy world. The situation I want to avoid is abandoning my character on the Legacy world, and levelling and gearing up a character on the Non-Legacy world my friends play on, only to find out after investing much time into the Non-Legacy world character that I am now able to transfer my character from the Legacy world.

I've seen this thrown around a lot, and it's kinda what I'm crossing my fingers for, but I've never actually seen where this comes from. Do you happen to have a link to where SE said this? I've given myself a deadline of Feb 28th to make my decision, I just wish we could get some input, or an update if they've already stated something in the past.

I find a lot of sources via Google citing "6 months" as a figure and someone even said it was in some "earlier interview" from before August... but not one actually LINKED anything.

I'm taking bets that it won't happen before 2.2 if only because of the recent attempts to get players to spend lots of money on things like Housing and all the weird market fluctuations with changes to gathering, foods, shard availability, and gil coming in from dailies and gil drops. Maaaaybe February at the earliest, which would put it close to that supposed figure.

Well if they're waiting on economies to balance out, they've done a good job effectively tanking both with the latest patch. So it shouldn't be too much longer.

It was in at least two interviews but I really don;t feel like digging for them since I don't remember what month/letter they were. But yea, he said likely around 6months.

I'm far too lazy too look stuff up for you. I want to say it was an announcement or live letter during or before August and I think another announcement in Sep when they were letting everyone know about transfers that started in Oct.

I'd like to reactivate discussion on this topic. I think it is an extremely valid talking point currently as economies of Legacy and Non-Legacy appear to be pretty much spot on exact.
