I guess people would be more forgiving if you'd come in with crafted HQ PvP gears. Problem is most people are such a miser they wouldn't even spend some and expect people to carry them through which is revolting to most folks who actually contributed and sacrificed.

I thought I would be placed with fellow new players, as it was my first battle... I just wanted to see what it was about, I was nearly logging out and wanted to pop in and see if it was something I could enjoy.

... I am also shocked that its fine to tell players to go commit suicide in real life if the player has not taken time and gil to buy PvP gear just to have a look see at a relatively new feature. To put it in context I found WoW's PvP and PvP Community to be more mature and friendly... and that is not a good sign.

Despite the spell interruption rule, casters are still among the most powerful jobs in PvP while everyone knows about SMN, all the other casters manage to stand out to some degree.

Besides this fact, you have tools available to help against this. You can use Surecast, a THM ability, to cast your next spell without interruption (as long as you maintain line of sight / don't get CC'd), and there is also the PvP ability Equanmity, avialable to all jobs which have spells with a cast time (ARC/BRD, CNJ/WHM, THM/BLM, ARC/SMN/SCH) which negates spell interruption entirely for up to 20 seconds.

Just because you're having trouble with it doesn't mean it's broken.

Unless you neglected to mention that you are somehow playing this game while legally blind there is ZERO excuse for not knowing something as basic as what the arena looks like.

Any healer with even a basic understanding of the "they can't see me behind a wall" concept can be a monster in pvp, able to dodge in and out of even a closely following melee dps's attacks to top themselves or a teammate off.

I agree with you about this. But that's the problem. The only PvP on this game right now is small scale. And why every PvP match I did was just a chicken race with the casters sprinting behind fences. It was dumb. In my opinion.

If they add more open PvP I might give it another go.

Is this actually possible? My personal experience is that either I run behind the wall, start casting and get interupted by a heavyshot from a brd on the other side of the wall, or the autoattack speed of the melees is much faster than the 3 seconds you need to safely cast cure2
After a few weeks i found Faeries/lustrate are amazing but whm most of the time is just regen/sprint/fluidaura/swiftcastrepose/everythingthatdoesntmakeyouahealer. you only get to really heal against teams you were clearly going to beat anyway, and thats when you're not needed.

Whm has it very hard in pvp. Even with equanmity you can still be stunned it it won't be of much use. Once your cool downs for swiftcast is gone, it is very hard to get a cure off when you got 2 dps chasing you, especially if one of the dps is a brd. After doing a lot of matches I gave up on pvp.

WHM also has stronger stoneskin and can cast spells while under attack with it up. If you think it's going to come off, you can just recast it while you're being attacked.
