If you are a WHM without Swiftcast, you are holding back your team at endgame

Man do you know how many healers I've had to treat with kid gloves in raid because they have this attitude of yours? I think I've lost count.

Too true, I remember back in the 75 days of FF11 when I was solo tanking Byakko on PLD/NIN, I asked for haste after the first messy pop only to be told the whm didn't have time, was too busy cure bombing. I politely explained that she wouldn't need to cure bomb if I got haste, without it my cooldowns where too long. At that point WW3 broke out.

A swiftcasted raise is probably the most useful thing a white mage could possibly do at Endgame, among the many other uses for Swiftcast. Yet almost everysingle time I go into DF, the White Mage never has Swiftcast, and we wipe. Everytime the WHM does have swiftcast, we win, coincidence? I think not.

You should not be healing endgame with a WHM at all until you learn Swiftcast. If you don't know this ability, you are holding back your team. Does anybody else agree? Is Swiftcast a vitally important ability for a White Mage to have? What are your thoughts?

screaming to another player is wrong in the first place, screaming in a game that is meant to relax is wrong on many account, it show a lack of control, control that you need when you play. I admit I dont have it yet, I will have to bring that up...I dont believe it hinder the group, end game we are two, one or the other has it if none, well let us keep going, the one that is late, eventually will get there..and I will. Everything happens on its own time.

I don't think anyone will disagree with you to be honest, I used whm in my posts but I probably should have typed Healer. For me it's about the healer having instant cast ability rather than a whm thing.

I didn't need swiftcast until turn 4 .. great skill I was missing out but I was still able to Whm without it ..

Maybe your other healer had it?

I think it's because WHM is synonymous with healers throughout all of the FF series, and SCH is not?

But regardless, yes, both healing classes should have it, it's only a matter of a few hours to get it. Pure laziness is not a good excuse not to have it.

For Scholar it's really useful for putting down shadowflares quickly or resummoning (or swapping) pet. Pets dying lead to a significant drop in HPS particularly if you won't have enough time to hardcast summon.

That is correct. It does not take that long. I also leveled ACN for eye for an eye, not the best buff in the world but every bit helps! I meant no disrespect to OP, I just always see WHM used as an example on this paticular topic.

I feel like some of the figurative language we use might be confusing for someone who isn't native to English or MMO culture. I mean our tone in this thread got pretty catty but I think people just got led into the typical US vs. THEM mentality. Then the healer contingent settled on "well it's not mandatory" I mean neither is leveling your job I guess? LVL 50 CNJ LFG.

Yeah, I got major flashbacks all throughout this thread. I mean you might see the same thing if you made the exact thread about tanks or DPS. It's just personally as a tank I usually dealt with the attitudes of healers, and I'm not saying the bad behaviors of any role were acceptable, but arguing that it's fine to skip an ability that could save raids simply on principle is just such a healer thing to do.

Obviously the contingent demanding non-stop battle resses are wrong, but the people saying it's an acceptable skill to skip because people should never need battle resses are just as wrong. The latter just looks more like willful ignorance than your typical DPS idiocy.

it really boils down to this, a bad whm with swiftcast is still going to be bad. a good whm with swiftcast is going to be better than a good whm without it

theres not much grey area and i think people are just being thick headed for arguments sake.

::quick edit:: also since i see people bringing up titan alot, there is only one time during p5 of titan hm where a rez is even viable thats during the gaol phase. if you as a healer can raise someone, get them topped off, and keep your tank alive for the upcoming mountain buster without swiftcast, then hats off you my friend. you won the game
