Ah. Where are all the other horses then? Now that I remember Odin's, I seem to remember npcs from the quest for it mentioning the word 'horse' with no surprise or w/e so it just seems odd.

There was an old post from Ferne, in that horses do exist in the world but in this particular portion of it. If memory serves me well, chocobos were simply much more adapted to the climate and were the chosen beast of burden.
Although unicorns are native to coerthas, such that they even feature in ishgard's standard.

Ahhhh I see, forgot about the unicorns too lol. Hopefully one day we'll get to see a bit more of this world and what other critters are out there >3<

If you fish up a "Sea Bo", the description pretty much says the person who discovered it tried to name it a sea horse, after seeing those creatures in Ilsabard. So I guess if we ever get to step foot in these Garlean controlled continents, perhaps the chocobo will be more rare, while the traditional horse will become a more common sight.
