Patch 1.18: New info coming soon?

Yes the Dengeki Article that the Chinese blog posted. That the Japanese blog picked up. Quoting the Chinese blog.

If there was a Dengeki article we would have seen it by now. Like I said this was posted on the forums weeks ago, and if the article hasn't surfaced by now its fake.

Anyway, just because there haven't been scans of it doesn't mean that it's fake. The Japanese Lodestone blogs were directly referencing the Dengeki article, not this Chinese blog you keep talking about. And honestly, the chances of people actually caring enough to get the article online are slim. There are probably less than 20,000 players actively playing, and there just isn't the hype needed for people to care about scanning and uploading them.

What we do have, however, is a link to what was in that issue, and FFXIV is on that list. It's vol. 21, right at the top of the page. So, while you're right, there isn't solid proof, we at least know that FFXIV was talked about, and Japanese players have been referencing the supposed "interview" directly, with the same information. It would be quite the elaborate prank if all of them decided to post "fake" information at the same time.

Though I see how you feel that the same tired line is all SE can give us, I'm afraid this is not the case. They can most certainly give us more satisfying information, and deliver in a much more efficient manner, they just choose not to.

There are ways of providing your player base with information, whilst not revealing so much detail as to ruin the element of surprise for them. SE should be paying someone to come up with ways to communicate this, then passing the words to Yoshi-P so he can post em.

As to the other portion of my comment, take a look at this scenario comparison:

1.
- SE states that such and such features will be implemented mid-June at the earliest
- Naturally the bulk of players are now expecting something to be provided to them mid-June, despite the "at the earliest" part
- SE fails to deliver by mid-June, instead it's early July
- Players are already pissed and left because they feel they've been cheated and lied to

2.
- SE states that such and such features will be implemented by the end of July at the latest
- Players now recognize the end of July as a cut-off point, and have a tangible date to expect results by
- SE delivers early July, the same time frame as previous, only now they are technically ahead of schedule due to simple rewording
- Players sing praise of SE's efforts and enjoy the bounty they have provided

You see how easy that is? Why SE cannot realize this simple tactic to help buy time is beyond me.

I just checked the actual blog post and you were right I don't know where I got the Japanese blog QUOTING Chinese blog...I think I read somebody's post saying that and read it as fact...but alot of the information is him reflecting on what little bits he read and I think alot of people took the opinions part as part of the actual article (if there is one).

I still find it hard to believe that something like that wouldn't surface by now. I mean alot of people have friends in game who are JP and I'm sure they tell them if they hear information like that. It seems kind of like a big deal to slip through the cracks for over 2 weeks you know?

Burning the midnight oil! I'm sure SE understands what is at stake here. Practical people like myself are well aware of the difficulties SE are facing with this game so I'm willing to give them the time necessary to get it right. Other people on the other hand are not as understanding or forgiving. That being said, we are all patrons of this game 1.18 has to have enough substance to keep most of the would be rage quitters satisfied.

Well, traditionally big patches get a Producers Letter that outlines a few of the new additions. Then a week later we get the patch notes with the maintenance.

Im gonna call a letter on Monday 13th or Wednesday 15th then the patch will drop on Monday 20th or Wednesday 22nd.

Oh no, don't get me wrong. I think it's weird too, and I'd love to see it myself, but like I said...I just don't think there are enough players right now to warrant a leak like that. The post that I linked earlier was translated by a friend of mine who speaks Japanese, and he's also done most of the other (proper) translations on these forums, so I personally have no reason to doubt that the information is false. I'm sure he wouldn't have translated it the way he did if it was just opinions.

As for the Chinese article, I think I know which one you're talking about. It was floating around these forums a month or two ago, and that I don't believe a word of.
