And, no offense, but if you bought a house at the current prices, you're part of the problem. So I'll be withholding my sympathy, I'm afraid.
Yoshi-p stated that the housing prices for legacy servers would drop to that of the non-legacy in MARCH 2014, not in January 2014, This is clearly a 2 - 3 month difference. We, as a free company, worked very hard to raise the 90 mil for the plot we wanted at the time. Not giving us the chance to get a refund when the prices are going down in an exponential fashion, is simply a slap in the face to all Legacy free companies that trusted SE, and believed the prices wouldnt change.

How may I ask is someone who purchased a house part of the problem? (and what is the problem in the first place? Large amounts of gil?)

Free companies worked together to purchase these houses, and they were told that the prices would stay at the current reducing rate until patch 2.2.
Essentially the Devs posted on the forums saying that prices would not be reduced until far in the future, but went against their word in about a week (which is fine because it was at the request of the community) I think that it would be fair to everyone involved to be refunded and given a chance to make proper decisions based off of these new policy changes.

Sweet if 40m is nothing you could always drop me a few "Nothings" I'd apreciate it as getting a few million takes some time for me.

The plan to reduce legacy land prices to group 3 pricing was announced on Lodestone 2 hours after the patch went active. That announced a huge price cut of 80%-90% which was to be implemented gradually over the course of 3 months, not starting after 3 months. In fact, one set of adjustments was explicitly stated to start in January, which is only 2 weeks after the patch went active. And of course SE always said pricing would be reduced every 6 hours anyway.

It's up to SE how to handle this. It won't bother me if they refund the difference, refund it all and deconstruct the house, or refuse a refund. Surely the FC believed the house to be worth the purchase price when it bought it?

As for "you're part of the problem", I suppose they could mean your FC demonstrated that pricing was not unreasonable, or maybe that you broke a boycott a few posters seemed to have called for.

We didn't plan to boycott to begin with, so if that's the suggestion. As far as I'm concerned, the high prices that square enix wanted to implement, I agreed with, but not to the extent they announced.

I dunno, man. You have to be pretty derpy to not consider the possibility that they might lower the prices due to the large amount of completely justifiable outrage about the housing situation. And you say you agreed with the prices, but not to the extent they announced? So did you agree with them or not? If you did, then you paid what you thought your house was worth and got what you wanted. If you didn't agree with the prices then you shouldn't have bought a non-refundable house.

Seriously though, pretty derpy to buy a house so early if you cared at all about wasting millions of gil.

We decided, as a group together, to buy a medium-size house, because Yoshi-P mentioned in one of his posts the price were final.
There would be some drops in the prices, but not so much as he mentions now.

To make the prices drop so fast in the next 6 weeks, is just completely unfair. We just submitted a ticket and we would at least like our money back..
Well you do get to enjoy that hot tub 6 weeks longer than many on the server.

Should have waited like most people were doing who had the money! You went out purchased a product knowing there was controversy about the prices, but yet you got it anyway! I say a big fat NO!

Early adopters get the shaft, this is kind of a fact of life. It's an unfortunate one, but undeniable.

Yoshida can say all he wants about finality, much like he can and did say all he wanted about how a handful of fresh 50s can afford a house with the cash they made getting to 50. Things change, and claims are entirely invalidated a second later.

Housing cannot be allowed to flop, because he hyped it up so much. There is a pathetic amount of buyers for said houses, less than a handful on most Legacy servers, so they had to make a decision. Either stay the course with this horrendous price gouging, so for the next couple months you have entire housing instances wasted with only a few FCs populating them, or lower the pricing more than they originally stated to try and coax more naive players with a little bit too much pocket change to throw their money away.

I can't really pity you for getting burned purchasing the land at these exorbitant prices, because common sense should have made you realize Yoshida's original plan had less of a chance to remain afloat than the Titanic. Even more so when so little FCs purchased land. I do wish you the best of luck in getting reimbursed, but I can't be anything but cynical about that outcome either, considering the absurd Legacy prices were a really transparent way to siphon the inflated amount of gil these servers have out of circulation, and you guys kind of played into his hand hook, line, and sinker.
