Why is Myth gear as good as Allagan gear, or even better?

Coil is not hard. People have beaten T1 and T2 just wearing AK gear and DL. That is hardly an i90 requirement. Perhaps T4 and T5 are considerably harder than the first two turns but they certainly don't require full i90 to complete, however like with all content the better geared you are the better you are going to do.

ive never seen any other game hand you free best gear in the game because people are stupid. and i didnt say not everyone who likes myth the way it is isnt good enough for coil, but there is a population who absolutely refuse to do any coil at all because they think its too hard.

i mean really, would WoW have been as big as it is/was if the heroic dungeon loot was found in their regular mode counterparts? no one hands out gear of the highest level just for the fact that pick up groups are stupid. if this game had any difficulty before titan, it wouldnt be an issue. the game literally lets you spam flash in fates to level up, then when you actually have to know how to play (read: move out of the way), its too much to ask.

GW2 start out with that same idea, play your own way to get the same rewards.. but then people realized that i can either farm gold for 1 day, or spam dungeons for a week to get the same stats.. why bother? people lost interest because there was no point to anything, then they released that ascended stuff. as far as i know (last i played) it was only obtainable from fractals. the current end-game multi-mini dungeon system.. sound familliar?

Rather that giving you the myriad of logical reason that FFXIV functions this way, there is one question that needs to be answered.

because if you can sit in toll and run 10 minute dungeons a few times a week and gear yourself faster than doing the actual content, then what is the point? tell me 1 logical reason why you are rewarded with ilvl90 gear currently highest level, from ilvl55 content. just 1. and it must be something that every game in history has overlooked because its never been done before.

and before anyone says you can still get ilvl 95 weapons from turn 5.. really? thats even worse than the rest of the RNG, its like beating titan once per week looking for a specific something. How many people have fought primals 30-50 times and still never got the weapon they wanted, now consider that would be 3-6 months and you still walk away empty handed. by then new ilvl95 weapons will be out and all that time was wasted

It's called progress, and not locking out anyone that doesn't live in a basement out of continuing to improve their character, even if they can only play an hour a day.

In an RPG, progress and goals are all important.

So, do you enjoy doing binding coil? If so, this doesn't really matter. If not, why are you doing it? It does get you different stat gear that looks cool and the best weapons in the game. I fail to see how other players getting geared over months hurts you.

Alternative gearing routes.

Nobody wants to do just coil for BiS gear once a week.

Also, Myth gear can be obtained without doing endgame dungeons so casuals can gear up.

Best to have a few options for gearing up instead of a single path.

Why are you so scared of players being able to gear up in an alternative horizontal method? If you want to run coil. run coil. If you want to spam speed runs, do that. If you want to mix it up each day with roullete, CT, dailies, primals, and coil.

So, lets think about your idea and break it down. You run and clear coil, get no drops and not enough tokens that week to get an item. Whatcha do then? Nothing else to do for you, Great idea! not.

But personally im not that fragile or egotistical that I try to think I'm special in a game because of the gear I wear. Or how I acquired it. Which is attitude Ive had since raiding Vanilla EQ.

really? progress? how do you consider it progress if you never level ilvl55 content and you end up with the best stuff in the game? progress is earning ilvl55 stuff from the ilvl 55 dungeon, then going to ilvl 70, then 80, then 90... thats progress. not earning 55, 70 and 90 gear at the same time, in the same place.

its only horizontal if there are multiple ways to collect that level of gear on that same scope...what this is is a backwards slanted method, where you can get xyz stuff for doing this content up here, orrr you can just kick a couple of tonberries and we'll give it to you anyway

and the answer is simple, you do the same thing you do if you finish your speed runs and youre 10 points shy of your next piece.. you wait until next week and earn your next batch

If all you can play is for 1 hour a day, you'd still finish Coil on monday, in that 1 hour.
This game doesn't require you to play for hours and hours every day to advance. In fact the game needs more 'End Game' opportunities as it is.

I still maintain that Coil should drop better loot than WP.

As others have said before, maybe Coil should drop Myth tomes and Allagan gear. But in my humble opinion, WP should not be dropping Myth tomes.
