Why is Myth gear as good as Allagan gear, or even better?

If crafted gear isn't as good as 'loot' gear because the game wants you to earn your gear from farming monsters, not from farming gil.
Doesn't it follow then, that better gear should drop from harder monsters?

Shouldn't Allagan gear be better than gear you can get from wpsr?
Myth gear being as good as or better than Allagan gear doesn't make any sense to me.

Alternative gearing routes.

Nobody wants to do just coil for BiS gear once a week.

Also, Myth gear can be obtained without doing endgame dungeons so casuals can gear up.

Best to have a few options for gearing up instead of a single path.

whats worng with that? u could only get 300 tomes /week before so 2 weeks for 1 item for 1 job .....

if u werent a drg or monk , GL with allagan drops before 2.1 :P

Allagan gear is better than AK/WP gear. AK/WP gear is i55-60 and vastly inferior.

Myth gear is accumulated from doing multiple endgame instances, not just AK/WP. Now that 2.1 is out honestly, why are you even still doing AK/WP runs? I get WP since you can still do speed runs and all, but even so that gets so boring. Run the HM dungeons, get 50 Myth tomes per run, or 90 if you use the Duty Roulette and get one of the new dungeons.

I guess I think it's lame that you can get the best gear in the game w/o beating any of the 'hardest' content of the game.

Maybe they should have made CT i90... and made that the alternative armor. Not to say CT is hard...

The irony of this statement is humorous coming from someone who's signature denotes astonishment at the extremely NON-casual friendly nature of the current housing costs.

Just because you can get good gear doesn't mean that gear is BiS. Infact for most classes it still takes a combination of the two for BiS min/maxers. I don't bother with that personally. I can't do coil because it requires a static and I had a rather not so great experience in a pug group in the beginning of T1 a while back, so imo pug groups just don't cut it. I can't do a static because my job schedule isn't constant every week, so basically I can't do coil unless I pug it, which I would rather not do, period.

Thankfully, I can do dungeons and all the other endgame content that doesn't require a static group (which is everything else but coil). I can earn myth tomes and get a really good equivalent to Allagan gear. I may not be able to BiS everything but I can make what I get work for me so that I am even more effective at my job/class.

So yeah, that is why there are other ways to obtain gear. For people who can't participate in things like static groups due to circumstances beyond our control.

It's what you can do with that armor that counts.

Gear is just a means of beating content, and Mythos makes it so RNG won't screw you so badly.
