Considering that I'm not gonna be spending much time in my FC's house anyway (when we eventually get one), I can't say this is affecting me much...

Its a lame restriction sure I guess, but not one that's gonna affect me in any meaningful way.

I think the big thing isn't this -one- emote restriction, but rather it's another point in a trend by SQE to censor and/or nanny the players like we can't handle ourselves in an online enviroment. That's what the concern is, not the fact that we can't lay down on a park bench in ul'dah.

I think its just another example of SE short sightedness & laziness. They probably didn't think people would want the /doze animation to apply outside of fc housing, but they could have just asked us (which SE will never learn to actually ask what people paying for their product want) and now people are dissatisfied they make up a lame excuse to avoid doing the work.

If this emote is removed from open world gameplay then it stands to reason that all other emotes that involve an animation of any sort be removed from open world use as well, since they could potentially be used to offend others or be suggestive in nature.
