300 Tomes is worth doing them. I wish we had Duty Roulette back when the game 1st launched would have saved me dozens of runs. SE the Reward is perfectly Fine don't listen to this non sense.
As for the OP saying bad for new players Wrong.
I've got ifrit like 6 times now. 5 mins of work for 100k+ on level 36+ jobThis is already done in the "Low level" roulette.
People frequently get Ifrit and I've even heard of someone getting a Titan with it. The XP bonus for helping that is really good too if you're sub-50 (assuming you are already capped on tomes and don't care about Philosophy if you have a 50...)

I should've been more clear. I'm almost in full myth gear. Philosophy tomes are just for alts now, hence not really worth it, considering that you can get both philosophy AND myth from other dungeons/roulettes. However, it WOULD'VE been a godsend in the beginning, this is true. I ran Castrum without this bonus like 50 times to get full Dark Light + Relic. If you look at it that way, I suppose you're right that 300 philosophy tomes is more than worth it.
I guess I just expect my dailies to be something that I would at least strive to do daily, but since I've played from the release, this particular roulette is not very fun for me. I guess that's okay too. Not every feature of the game needs to appeal to me personally, but I don't think it's selfish for any of us to on some level want this, since we're paying to play this game and investing our time in it.
A game should be fun but fun is subjective. I was just putting in my own perspective because I really would like some way of justifying doing this every day. I hoped more people would feel the same as me but apparently I'm in the minority and again that's fine, the feature can be left as it is then. I think it would be better if more people felt that it was worth doing but there probably are enough so that queue times are still somewhat reasonable and they're for sure better than they would be without the roulette. It remains to be seen if this will hold in the long term but there's no reason SE couldn't just wait and see what happens on that and change it later if it becomes a lot harder to queue for main story quests.
As for the whole cut scene thing, I did NOT rush anyone through cut scenes. I specifically said that in the OP, I didn't and don't want to be one of those players. But I'd be lying if I said that waiting 10 min (and yes it was 10 min for a couple of the cut scenes) was terribly fun for me. When some players got sick of waiting and jumped the gun towards the end, the players who were experiencing Praetorium for the first time missed the whole fight. If that's what the reality of this system is going to be like and I was a new player, I think I'd rather skip the cut scenes and watch them in the inn later than to watch the cut scenes and miss the actual fight itself (and have to do the dungeon all over again, skipping cut scenes, to experience it).
Since you have to click through text to get through cut scenes, some people are getting through them in a minute or two, while others are taking far longer. A couple of the players in my run took 5-10 min on most of them. I know people read at different speeds, but seriously, one does have to draw the line somewhere. What if it was 11 min, or 12, or 15, or 20? At some point, you have to leave those players behind, if for no other reason than it could become impossible to even complete the run. If the non-new players are all in i90 and relic +1, it's not like the 1 or 2 new players are really needed to win the fights.
As for the commendation thing, I get more commendations from speed running content (even Praetorium) than waiting for that single player to watch cut scenes. Perhaps this is why I did not realize that my viewpoint might be the minority - my experiences seemed to suggest otherwise. Furthermore, one can get far more commendations doing WP 3 times than Praetorium once, plus you have to ignore that WP also gives myth, you make more gil, AND actually is often being run in 15 min not 20, which is enough to fit in a whole entire run. Also factor in that during that time, all the players are actually doing something and staying busy, not just waiting around for someone else to read. If 5-7 other players are bored out of their minds and waiting on you (who are getting a virtual carry through the dungeon) and you can watch your cut scenes in the inn it seems odd to me to call all those other players selfish. I'm not saying the cut scene watcher is necessarily more selfish either.
The level of self-interest appears to be about the same: we do something for an hour and we'd like an hour's worth of fun, please and thank you. None of you have to agree. That's why it's called an opinion![]()

Pretty sure every CS in Praet/CM you can use the skip CS on so there is no clicking on dialog boxes to continue. So I guess if someone is trying to skip CS's they should learn how to use the skip CS button....... If someone wants to watch theirs CS's cause its there 1st time then let them, If the party can continue without them and they get left behind so be it. They will and can rerun the dungeon. It kinda sucks that the Party finder option is only for server parties, Cause Then players can do Dungeons for the speed they want. But with SE adding in 200 extra tomes to story modes people are still going to speed run and I've been going back to CM/praet since the patch and haven't seen anyone tell anyone to skip CS's. I maybe seen it a handful of times.
Also I don't see what People being forced to skip CS's or People having to wait for people to watch CS's has to do with wanting to get more out of a new system. The bonus Tomes are perfect even if you have to wait an extra 10-20mins, You're getting 3Xs the tomes in one run. So what would take you 45-75mins depending on your party, You are doing in 15-35mins ( if someone does CS's).
The Bonus is only once a day. I guess I'm in the same Boat as you started since Beta P3 and when Launch hit I was level 50 the next day and I spammed the hell out of CM I know for a fact that I ran CM over 200 times in like 3 weeks, Then I lost interest in doing them. Ilvl86 MNK here and I was part of the Monday only crowd and played like 4-6hrs a week but now I get to login daily If I wish. I may not like the Housing prices and CT loot lockout but I enjoy the daily roulette system.

I randomly cued CW, CM, and Prae as my whm once a day in 2.0 when there were no bonuses. if the team happened to fail, i cued again til i helped get a team through the run. It shouldn't be about the tomes you get, the reward should be that you helped upto 8 people live and sucessfully complete the culmination of their journey thus far. the Tomes should just be the icing
but thats just me
How I see the new abilities:
Asylum - Get ready for my holy spam because that's the only healing you gonna get.
Aero III - I guess I should put some dots up before holy spamming.
Assize - I need more MP to spam holy even more, also stop getting hit in the face.
Tetragrammaton - I guess I should heal that tank now.
Stone III - There's less than 3 mobs left alive. - Ragns Meuhie
every new player with a heart for this game, will inevitably, want to finish content fast as that is the game progression. it is incredibly rude to justify story "satisfaction" in a mmo element because your a defending a "player-type"— that will want to someday play the game "faster". OR why are you playing? More importantly a new player should always come prepared for the content through their own research. if i can summarize your argument into a idiom i am familiar with, then you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. and PLEASE stop rage typing, objectifying other players, and making a nonmember incentives by commenting here. #playFFarrmoreoften

You're right. I've been playing on a very blurry and terrible TV on the already bad looking PS3 version of the game over at my friends house for the past few days and only saw the dungeons part while missing the trials part of the description. I knew it seemed awkward that it only went up to 47. Glad to know that Cape Westwind is not forgotten as that'd kinda suck for people that needed it.
