The Reward for Story Roulette Not Worth the Time

I love the Duty Roulette but it seems like one of the good things about it is so that new players don't have long queue times for needed story completion dungeons. If you do the story roulette, you get 300 tomes of philosophy, which seems like a good deal to some people except actually it's totally not.

Your only dungeon options are Castrum or Praetorium. I always get Praetorium. It's super long with tons of long cut scenes that players always want to watch. When I was leveling up, I hated players telling me to skip cut scenes, so I don't want to be one of "those players." On the other hand, it really is a very miserable experience to spend an hour on a dungeon, a lot of which is just waiting around, then you only get 300 tomes.

Therefore I've concluded it's not worth my time when weighing the pros vs. cons. If others come to the same conclusion, then it seems like the story roulette won't serve its intended purpose. My suggestion is to buff the reward. In the meantime, I'm skipping that daily chore.

I do it for SBing. You can get 50% in one CM run (not sure about Prae) with the right gear and FC buff.

I've gotten castrum full of people that were either doing roulette or have at least done it before and it went very quickly for 300 tomes so....

As long as some players conclude it's worth their time, that's more players queueing for Castrum and Praetorium than there would be without it. Which is roulette's purpose. It doesn't need to be every single player; that'd actually be counter-productive, clogging the queue with more people who don't need it than people who do.

Given the number of obviously-not-first-timers I've had every time I've run the story roulette, I'm not the only one who's decided it's worth it. So it seems to be working just fine.

I think it's a good reward and do a run daily, in fact 300 tomes for such easy dungeons seems like it's too good to be true half the time, ya know, when half the party have relic +1's and the whole thing is face rolled.

Yes, please do skip it because I don't want to group up with you or anyone else attempting to turn it into your own personal speed run because you're in such a huge hurry for your tomes.

OP that's not exactly targeted at you but I am sick and tired of getting into DR groups now with people that are in their own little world trying to solo speed run these instances. Seriously, after the first couple days DR for Guildhests and Main Scenario have turned to utter crap because of impatient, commendation hungry, tools. I've seen more Castrum wipes and more Praetorium wipes than I ever did in the beginning of the game when that content was new and it's all because the people trying to speed run it don't bother to make sure everyone is on the same page or even capable of doing a speed run. In most of these groups I don't even have time to slow down and explain to the players that actually need it what in the world it is they need to do.

Duty Roulette: Main Scenario was obviously meant to help new players or players that had not gotten around to the main scenario yet clear the content but I feel like it's only exacerbating the problems people were having before with being forced to skip all cutscenes and hurry up. So now not only are you not going to get to watch the cutscenes you're also going to have absolutely no idea how to effectively participate in the fights or have any idea what your role is.

Look at it this way. Easy player recommendations. I always get minimum of two every time I run Prae and I don't even stick around. I just say "gg" and leave.
