    I'll answer seriously:

Both are the same general development team.

FFXI doesn't need to undergo an overhaul of it's foundation.

FFXI is a 9 year old established and near it's end of life MMORPG.

FFXIV is having slow updates because attention is being focused on it's foundations more so than expanding. Nothing can be "quickly implemented" when you want to get out your main project as quick as possible, because then it's guaranteed it was thrown in just because with no testing. Which is why things like "Anima changes" won't happen till they finish up the main patch.

You keep using that same recycled excuse, nothings going to change after its done, it will still continue to be slow.

You clearly don't know what a overhaul means.

A major repair, remake, renovation, or revision; To modernize, repair, renovate, or revise completely
So whether it "speeds it up" or "still be slow" means nothing, it's the fact they're redoing it is why it's considered an overhaul. If you can prove that they're not overhauling foundations, you should tell Yoshida to stop redoing features like the battle system and supplementing the armory system, cuz you know, it's an excuse.
