maybe you just have trigger happy ARC/BRD in the group. Most 50 content encourages trigger happy behaviour and breeds bad habits but I certainly understand the frustration of trying to hold aggro regardless of trigger happy DPS or not. Tanks have very limited actions during low level and I found that the best way to get through is simply numbering adds. It gives me my prime target to spam attacks on and I usually don't have to many issues holding aggro so long as I'm allowed to get the first hit in. That being said, I've run BRD low level in 2.1 and found that if I do run a solid rotation off the bat, I will almost certainly pull aggro, but if I relax it a little and let the tank hit a couple of times before I start my full rotations, then there is no issues.

Low level gladiator seems to be outperformed by other classes in general, in my experience.

I'd say they have a brief window from 26-29 where they're good, then 30 hits and WAR gets Defiance. I don't think PLD recovers until 40 with Shield Oath. . .

Having lvled up with an archer/bard I feel you pain. Keeping aggro is a nightmare pre halone especially with multi mobs - you will struggle to cycle through and back to first mob without losing aggro. Even worse with black mage too as you have burst single target and burst aoe.
I tried to train my friend to keep an eye on his aggro but after years of gaming together and the joy of making me sweat he never does.
Have to admit never had so much an issue with single mobs - usually fight or flight, shield lob then constant combos did the trick.

This right here. Most a BRD can really do is pull out Quelling Strikes somewhere in the combo (after hitting level 34) and hope the PLD can get the aggro down low enough before it runs out. My friend played a PAL for the longest time, I know how much trouble a BRD and a BLM can give them, especially since we're usually skyping while doing dungeons.

I did a fair amount of low level GLA for Provoke, it was always a hairline but as long as targets were marked (and properly attacked) I didn't have any problems. Flash between combo and tab target if needed.

Pretty sure you're misremembering. Like many have said, it's always been an issue for low-level GLD to struggle with DPS that just go all-out rather than watch their meter and hold off when needed (particularly ARC).

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is experiencing this! I'm relatively new to PLD and WAR, so I was really worried when I couldn't hold aggro. I thought I just was not playing the role correctly. Guess I'm doing okay then!

I think MRD has better snap aggro than GLA/PLD at the lower levels. I'd personally queue as a GLA if it's for the under 30 stuff but unfortunately I don't think you can change to Paladin if you get thrown into Brayflox or higher.

I've not had any trouble. Mark up mobs, spam flash a few times then move to single mob tanking on whichever mob is being focused.

Still, hate only having a few skills. I miss CoS the most.
