How exactly is this convenient? I find it confusing more than anything. I see night and day swapping every 12 minutes or so. Not linking it much tbh.
But we could for fun!No point in discussing real-life and real-time physics when comparing a game set in a 100% fictional universe with it's own assumed set of rules. The only reason it exists this way is so you actually experience a day/night schedule whilst playing, instead of just being stuck in the time you log in at.

Well if it was in real time there could be some issues with time zones and you'd have to get up really early just to gather some stuff, I mean sure it'd be immersive and realistic I guess but yeah I personally rather not. A whole Eorzean day is 72 minutes so you don't have to wait that long, most games with a day and night cycle have sped up times. It's a videogame in the end, I'm sure there are other games that handle it in real time maybe a couple other MMOs if you want that sort of thing.
