PvP 2-minute 'prep' Time Sink

So.. the 2 minute timer before matches needs to go. It just serves as a massive* "sit and twiddle our thumbs" time sink. 30-40 seconds is more than sufficient.

I haven't hit the higher PvP ranks yet, but just for rank 9 it takes 360 exp, with 30 exp per win. So.. that comes down to 13 matches, which mean's I've got to spend a cumulative 20 minutes sitting, just 'cuz. Assuming exp keeps scaling, if the 10-and-20-ranks start to require in the range of 30 or more matches, we're starting to talk about literally hours spent doing nothing, waiting for a lobby to time out.

*Yes, ofc, that extra 80-second wait in-and-of-itself isn't bad, but considering the hundreds, if not thousands, of matches that will be needed to get the gear (and, for those more enlightened among us, that will simply be played to enjoy the actual game), 80 seconds quickly turns into hours of literally just sitting.

We only need 30 seconds. Half the time the actual battle is shorter than the wait time, I guess they don't want us gearing up too fast.

If this is the intent behind the lobby wait, I've lost even more faith in SE.

I suspect they just copied from other MMORPG that have a similar wait limit, but they forgot those games you don't go in as a full team so it's a good idea to have a grace period so that you don't immediately start the game when it's a 5 on 10.

Better if there was a 2min timer like this is now but then a Switch each side could press when there ready. When both switches are OK then can begin whenever you want.

If this is the intent behind the lobby wait, I've lost even more faith in SE.

I think the 2 minute time is there for ability cooldowns. If you switch class right before entering, your abilities go on cooldown. By forcing you to sit for 180 seconds, most (if not all) of your abilities should be ready at match-start. This is still stupid but at least its a justification.

Why not just reset cooldowns upon entering? Would this break the game somehow? Its not like this is XI and we have 2-hours....
