graphical lag?

what the hell happened to the game?
every since the patch as soon as i logged in, the game is just complete lag and is completely unplayable now on the settings i was playing on perfectly before. now in order to play i have to have my settings set to a standard laptop settings and mine is by no means a standard laptop.
something changed since the update that made the same settings unplayable on my laptop. is anyone else experiencing this?
i feel like im going crazy here. maybe it just that i dont know a whole lot about computers like i thought but all i know is that i was able to play this game on near max settings before the patch and after its pure lag, even going through the menu on the start screen before selecting my character

Yeah, I just upgraded my desktop and now i am getting random screen freezes and the whole thing where the world stops then fast forwards to catch back up. really irritating hope its not my PC going screwy

thats interesting, though it sounds like your issue is different then mine. mine isnt a lag spike, it doesnt run good and then random lag. it just 100% lag. if i move from one icon to another it starts moving instantly but it moves between them slow. everything is just horribly slow, but when i turn down my settings it runs at a faster pace. but these were the settings i was using before. i refuse to use the settings as a standard laptop when i specifically bought i good gaming laptop so i can play this game on it.

if anyone has any info on why this might be happening please let me know.

Idk, I've actually started getting better performance ever since 2.1

Mainly just the rate/how PC's in crowded places like Mor Dhona has improved, and that was the only thing that wasnt 100% before hand and everything else was flawless. Havent had/heard of either of you guys problems

I've heard people needing to reinstall FFXIV or reformat it since drivers weren't up to date.

most latop tops are basicly running 50% of your hardware is capable of and most you cant OC.
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHZ this is your problem most games theses days require over 3.0ghz you aint pushing data fast enough. OC your CPU if not your SOL.
im running a i7 860 over 100FPS because its @3.4ghz

Its probably that alot of people are online now, and your Laptop cant handle it.
It used to happen to me on my old PC, until I upgraded to a new one, am not having any issues. If the issues still exist, I'd advice you to update your graphics drivers to latest, If it didn't help, format your laptop.

Make sure you're running FF14 with the correct graphics adapter. Horrible performance after a patch is mostlikely the cause of trying the run the game on your Intel integrated graphics instead of your Nvidia card.

i dont think its an issue with people being online such as internet latency or bandwidth issues. i had this issue on an old laptop that defiently couldnt handle 1.0 at all. i also dont think its an issue with my computers hardware even the GHZ simply because i hadnt changed any settings since the update and i was running this game fine on near max settings before the update.
if it wasnt for that fact i would have to say that its possible. though now i cant even test out different solutions to fix the game since the game is on maintenance right now.
the odd thing is that i was playing on my desktop this morning after the patch, on near max settings as usual and that was running fine, no problems at all. and although i dont remember all the specs on my desktop off the top of my head, i know that it was slightly worse then my laptop thats having the issue.

i appreciate the help, i have just updated my graphics card driver in an attempt to fix the problem but i cant test it until maintenance is over

Perhaps it's a Nvidia issue? Have you tried updating your drivers?
I'm not having any issues on my 7870.
