I think that having more options to skill up is a good thing, and many many people who played FFXI would like to grind like they did in Vana'diel. ( I'm one of them ) With the leves system you are forced to exp every 36h and you aren't free to do whatever you want, cause the lack of alternatives.

I think for the grind party system FFXI had to be viable in FFXIV leves would have to be nerfed. IMO they should become solo only and still give decent SP but leve linking is way too OP so to speak. I wouldn't mind leves being a viable option for the casual player, as they were initially advertised, but the casual player should make some compromises in this case imo. I know some wont agree but I don't really care - I think FFXI's system was actually fun, at least a hell of a lot more fun than leves and it worked. Leves are just boring quests and half of everyone doesn't even know what their stories are about (not that they're any good anyway, once you've done all the leves at one camp you've basically seen them all).

and to me grinding was just boring sitting and killing the same mob over and over again. there's not much difference between grinding and leves to be honest. one you kill the same mob over and over for sp and the other guess what you kill the same mob over and over again.

i also don't see how you can say that leves are too op. a good grind party can get just around the same sp as leves in certain ranks. the problem is that they have too many ranks in which this isn't the case and needs to be fixed. we have dead areas in ranking up in which they have either no good grind mobs or the mobs they have for that rank have a super long respawn rate so they are not beneficial to grind on.

i just feel more options on leveling would allow people to group to do different things and still get reasonably close sp. it would solve the repetative nature of both grinding and leves.
