And I thought losing it as a WHM sucked, I didn't even think about what it would do to summoners. D=

Very true. I LOVE my BLM . . . until I get into a Boss fight with a tone of dodging. TONS of fun being BLM and fighting Demon Wall or Titan LOL. Which is the better class though? THAT is the question isn;t it? So while everyone focuses on skills, I will say this . . . the player behind the keyboard . . . THAT is what makes a character better or worse than the next character regardless of class . . .Alot of people forget that BLM gets shut down the second they have to move, Scathe is there only move attack option minus swiftcast, swiftcast is on a 1 min cooldown and Scathe got nerfed by 20 points. Summoner are made to be a dps class that can move and still get DPS out, as when a Summoner is on the move, we still get Bio, Bio II and Miamasa DOT ticks, Pet damage as well as still being able to atherflow, bio, fester, bane and Ruin 2 while moving, we get swiftcast to get another dot back up on the move once every min. I will agree, the Virus and Thunder nerf sucks, and summoner got the worse changes in 2.1, but Summoner will still be on par with BLM just by the fact movement does not = being shut down :P
This also . . . because it goes back to my comment above about the player behind the keyboard. People are panicking because they got USED to something and now they have to change it up a bit . . . once they get used to it again, the dust will settle and the good players will adapt and make the best of it and the bad players will rage . . .wait . . . rephrase . . . whine-quit.Not you in particular, but generically: You cannot compare current SMN damage to current BLM damage. Black mage is going through changes right now, too. No one can even know what is going to happen to the BLM rotations or speed of rotations until the servers are up again to test -- Likely no more double flare, but maybe no more double speed boost, longer waits for mp, when does AF/UI become active and so on.
People are looking at these changes on such a linear perspective. Look at the big picture. Looking back over the patch notes in more detail, yes I see nerfs . . . and I see buffs . . . want to know what I also see? Parties and friends working together to use these changes to create new strategies for beating the content of this game . . . teamwork . . . overcoming changes. Sometimes it makes it more fun. Yes, I have had MMO games nerf a favorite skill and make me go, "WTF?" . . . then a week later I am playing a new variation of my build after the patch barely even remembering the nerfed skill . . . because I managed to find a rotation that will work.
Actually for you I just wanted to say I love your signature slogan about your FC. I hope to run into some great FCs like that on Phoenix XD

Now that SE expects us to spam Ruin a lot more. Should spell speed move up in our "stat priority"
I did some really basic math using my spread sheet. I ripped out thunder from the rotation, figured the DPS out, and I think according to the numbers I am using Spell Speed goes from about an average of 0.015% DPS increase per Spell Speed at around 100 Spell Speed, to about 0.017% average per Spell Speed around 100 Spell Speed.
This in comparison to about .034% DPS per Crit, .04% Per Det, and .2% Per INT. So its more important, but nothing that ground breaking.
IDK how true the math is, but I can say that, SE must want us to stack it, considering every single 50+ weapon has it but 2. Much of the allagan gear does, and much of the SMN AF does.I did some really basic math using my spread sheet. On the japanese forum, the thunder removal complain has already exceeded 500 likes. To increase our chances on getting thunder back, we have to team up with japanese players so please upvote the op here:

The team feels that even with the removal of thunder that summoners still remain an extremely potent DPS job even when compared to monk and dragoon post update.

I dunno, the summoners in my FC are still pulling a ton of DPS even without thunder.
I've been doing fine. Just got down T4 as a SMN without any problems. Doomsayers will be doomsayers...![]()
If BLM's cant get bio 1, why should SMN get Thunder? I get that you're a dot class, but SMNs were slightly ahead in power until now simply because thunder got nerfed for us after beta. You're on par now, whoopdedoo, get over it. If you didnt have it in the first place would you be complaining? No. Every summoner ive talked to in game is let down, but gets why they dont have it anymore. We have one instant spell and it got nerfed. You have a pet for constant damage AND dots. We're screwed when it comes to pvp, its sleep and run for us. You know what spell BLM's get from SMN? Bio, no point. You get Swiftcast, MASSIVE use.
