You see if you fire an arrow at a parabolic arc the projectile will actually gain speed after it reaches its highest point. However, any speed gained on the descent was lost on the ascent. You also have to account for the frictional properties of the projectile travelling thru the air. As we all know chocobo fletchings are extremely large and will have quite the large coefficient of friction.

And then I pull a harp out of my butt and make people run faster...

Agreed, we should also take the ability to sprint and fire an arrow because your shot would be so inaccurate from anywhere that isn't 2ft away, even walking is hard to do while firing well placed shots.

I do remember how much cooler the animations were before they had to change them to allow the legs to move while firing due the sliding complaint. Now it just looks like your spine and upper body spaz whenever you do certain skills because they used to be linked to lower body skill animations.

I seriously think we shouldn't go into real world physics when it comes to final fantasy, as much as I would like to see Archers cool animations return, that would involve them actually standing still.

I believe (could be wrong) that Archers got elevation bonuses in FFT/FFTA but like... Eorzea BRDs (me included) are all PEW PEW PEW with no regard for anything and it's hilarious.

But if the resulting velocity from the end of the descent results in a greater speed than with which it was fired = more damage. Being above target would be more damage, below target result in less. Again not how we work in this game but this is a thread titled "essence of archers and bards"

You are correct about that in tactics with the elevation bonus, also Eorzea bows are clearly automatic laser rifles in disguise.
