But that is besides the point....NO ABILITIES regardless of outside solutions to "counter it" should last more than 5-7 seconds
Don't think that will work in this game either. At least in PVE, you can cast sleep on mobs with pre-existing DoTs and those wont wake the mob up. Any new DoT's or reapplication will wake but not ones that were already on the mob.

Those saying there are avenues to lower CC duration use them, you're ignorant of the fact that when you cater to PvP only when fully geared you cut the fun out of the lesser geared section completely and you don't get an influx of players at all due to the system currently is inherently broken.
WoW has CC durations perfect and every MMO who wants to have a successful PvP metagame should follow the simple basic rules of MMO PvP.

Melee is ok to play in PvP actually. You do need some form of CC support like stun or heavy to have melee play at its full potential.
Ideally its better to have a Pld tank if you run Melee dps, the spamable stun is great also the off GCD silence does wonders.
Long CC has always been a point of contention in pvp. In an arena setting, long CC is really rough. I won't be surprised if they cut it down.


As a drg, I have no complaints. I can burst down a healer in under 10 seconds if I use all my CDs properly. Once people start learning strategies, like casting blizzard and using Feint on the healer, PvP will be a lot of fun for melee.

WoW's pvp was many many things. Perfect was not one of them.
It was very common for me to lose fights on WoW where I was unable to move during the entire fight. So you can say what you want about sleep, but at least they can't beat the crap out of you during it like most of WoW's annoying CC.
Endless stun locks, fear spams, frozen... diminishing returns means nothing if you die in a matter of seconds. WoW's pvp sucked.

Before you state something like this...please try other melee classes first. Monks are gimped, sometimes paladins.
Try to use touch of death, you can't.
Try to use demolish, you can't
try to use dragonkick, you can't
try to use rage of harlone, you can't
Oh wait I'm sorry, you can only if the target stands still, but even if they slightly move away, just a little, the attack won't connect because of the animation lock.
