I think Legacy / 1.0 players should be ranting more about the fact that there's going to be a new goobbue mount for everyone even though we were supposed to have the only goobbue mount! Grrr! I'm mad!

We all know the REAL reason housing prices are so high.
If they were even so much as reasonably affordable, players on every server would swarm the housing instances in hopes of getting the best land. This isn't some perusing Amazon at home on Cyber Monday - this is full on tazer ballets at High Noon on Black Friday.
I am convinced this is all part of some brilliant plan to keep players from bum-rushing the flimsy servers that I'm sure these housing zones are on. By hyping players up and following with a sharp kick to the teeth, there is a chance of spreading out the population and keeping housing servers running. By making housing seem like a luxury only to be afforded by the most wealthy two expansions from now, YoshiP would have successfully averted an instanced meltdown ala Early Access and Launch.

This is what really grinds my gears. I have been earning gil solely to put towards an FC house. Now I find out my millions aren't even enough to pay for a half of the smallest trashiest house.

My favorite part is that these are probably the same sort of jokers who spew drivel like "What's the point in earning gil in this game?" or "Crafting is pointless lol".

On the plus side, at least we probably have a lot more gil stashed, and eventually, we can laugh at those mud-peasants from our majestic castles and fling rotten tomatoes at their silly faces.

First off, we'd like to thank you for all of your feedback thus far, and as usual, we're working to get it all collected and delivered to the dev. team. That said, last night our counterparts in Japan hosted a live patch notes reading for those that might not want to read the full wall of text. Yoshida joined in to offer commentary on specific aspects, and we'd like to share what was said regarding the pricing for the Free Company housing.

So you're punishing legitimate players for RMT's presence in the MMO? Something, to my knowledge, no MMO has ever been able to completely eradicate. Further more, 20k gil a day isn't going to make much of a dent in a 625 million price tag in 3 months even with all members dutifully slaving each day and donating their funds to the FC bank for a house. You're banking on people waiting the 3 months for the price to drop? But if that land is bought up and a new instance is required to be made to get the plot of land you'd like, it's right back to the starting cost of 625 million and you have to start waiting for a further 3 months for it to get into what is still a ridiculously unaffordable price range again.

We would like to enjoy your game, I come home from work to play FFXIV to unwind from a day of working to earn money to afford to pay my rent soon to be mortgage. Not to settle in for another few hours of work earning gil to afford a house in the online game I chose to play.

I have an FC full of wonderful people, who have been forced to splinter into 8 men statics because of your design choices with raiding. As a reuslt I had been really looking forward to CT and being able to participate with larger groups that we could cycle through members or teams with so everyone could start enjoying the game together instead of being isolated in their small static, but then you tell us we can still only enter through DF with an 8 man party. Don't worry I thought, there is still FC housing, everyone will be able to gather together there and craft, chill out and work towards building an great guild hall together... And then you price it so far out of the affordability range that it boggles the mind.

Don't even get me started on the just how much the whole different pricing for different servers smack of prejudice, intended or not. "Why am I punished for choosing Masamune over another server?" Is really all I can think of when I look at the proposed server pricing.

Sure, why not just buy a smaller plot of land?

Well my answer to that would be 50 million gil is not a small amount of change to throw away. With no upgrade feature on existing ownership and the fact you have to rely on being able to resell the land to another player and not take a loss, it is just to unappealing a risk to take. If it were solely my own gil then I might not be so hesitant. But the active donations of our members and their hard work put into earning that gil is not something I am willing to throw away so lightly.

FFXIV is a game, a source of entertainment, not my second job. I'm not asking you to make it so we can buy the biggest plots of land at 5000G a peice, but your current pricing schemes are unreasonable and the different costings per server are just plainly unfair. Please reconsider the message you're sending to your player base with this.

if he wanted to down-play Housing for the sake of Server Capacity, he should of down-played it on all the Live Letters he wasted SE revenues hyping it up

So the answer instead is to set the prices so high for some servers and lock out people from content because they cannot seem to plan server capacity properly?

Yes. Because there are a lot more people playing this game than SE or anyone else had estimated when they did their capacity planning. Don't forget they didn't simply decide to add housing a few weeks ago. They've been working on it since months before 2.0's launch.

I don't even.... *sigh* You just proved the point I was making. If a developer is not constantly monitoring server capacity to ensure the features they want to implement run smoothly and not crash the servers then they are not doing a part of their job.

I am well aware they didn't decide to put in housing a few weeks ago which is why the server excuse is unacceptable. They know how many FCs there are, how many people are in each one, how much gil they each have and yet they can't seem to use that data to properly plan server capacity.

I have to wonder why SE think that because a person is a member of a FC they are going to hand over millions of gil for something they don't own or control? eg: 20 people in aa FC work hard to save the gil and build an FC house and the day its all completed the FC Leader comes along and kicks everyone out so he has his own individual house?

I personally would never hand over millions or even hundreds of thousands of game gold for something I have no control over. I understand some people play in groups with friends and will happily share their time/gil but they are usually friends who have played together for a long time.

Okay, now I have to ask, Why is everyone and their mother soooo focused on 1st class large plots of land? Even if it was affordable, there wouldn't be enough to go around. Why can't we start small and work our way up? I know the prices are high and I agree with ya'll, but Does everyone really NEED the large First class land? That should be the hard to get plot.

A whole lot of FCs around here can't afford the *small* plots, in the least desirable place available. They aren't even looking at the large ones, because the price of those is pure science fiction.
