Housing is an investment. It does not hinder you to be without it, it only gives you something to work towards. Every week(?), prices drop on land that has not been purchased.

I think it's safe to assume that with the increase in gil rewards from combat leves, daily quests, new content, and having an actual amount of gil to aim for, that 9 month predicted wait is going to drop SIGNIFICANTLY. And mind you, this is ignoring the significant price drops as time goes on.
