They were thinking that a non-repeatable quest that awards a couple tier 4 materia isn't going to break anything and it'll help get people started on endgame melds (or put a few more gils in their pocketses).

Are they right? I don't know, and neither do you. We'll have to wait and see.

I really dont understand why SE would make materia given from quest...seriously that was one of the only forms of legitimate gil.
Not sure if the questline is repeatable but with the massive amount of people that can now gain them from a quest i fear materia too will go the way of gear. Now this doesnt effect Vit or Piety but all the other major IV ones.
I just dont understand SE anymore.

Not only this but IV materia convert chances have been increased. The reason materia IV was so high was because the chance of getting and item from i55 equipment was very low but now I50-i55 gear gives IV plus increased chance. So that along with quest means materia income will take a huge dive.

Actually with the PVP gear being meldable, the materia supply from these quests will be gone fairly quickly. I was hoping for an increase in prices, but since they are also increasing the conversion rate I imagine (in the long run) prices will stay the same.
