    This, I make a bunch just off getting tomes in WP. Some of the ingredients for the relic base weapons sell ok, others get listed for less than they npc for. Profit either way, then there's the 30 beetles that pretty much die instantly and all drop 50g. And crap gear that can be exchanged for GC seals.

    Not sure how giving an example of how much gil people COULD be making is bragging but okay. Lets just NOT tell people they could be making more or give them examples on how much or how to do it, that will surely help people make more than the "minimum wage".

    Let's assume Yoshida's right about how you'll be able to make 18k per day doing just battle content, and let's assume a Free Company of 20 active players, each with a VERY tight budget (don't care whether they're new or not, they're all poor and starting from scratch as far as housing financing goes). Let's assume that on average, their playstyle allows for 3 days of active gaming a week, and only 2 of those are spent actively farming gil. Let's also assume that our FC members aren't saints of generosity and only donate 1/3th of their earnings to the Company Chest on average... This puts our FC weekly earnings at:

    18 000 Gil / 3 * 20 members * 2 days/week = 240 000 Gil/week

    This is pessimistic, but it's a little more realistic than assuming every FC has a large playerbase willing to donate 100% of 7/7 days worth of gil farming...

    Let's also look only at the cheapest 5th class Small house plot.
    Cheapest Servers: 4 000 000 Gil / 240 000 Gil/week = 16.666 weeks (close to 4 months)
    Most Expensive Servers: 40 000 000 Gil / 240 000 Gil/week = 166.666 weeks (over 3 years)

    Now, Square Enix, explain this to me: if the weekly earnings possible through battle content are the same on every server, why are you considering that players on Masamune are magically able to earn 10 times as much as players on Asura? It's not like big bags of cash are suddenly going to hop out of rich people's pockets and into poor people's to even things out. If your calculations are based on how much gil we are able to make by playing through existing content, then it makes no sense whatsoever to base prices on the total dormant funds on a server. The neighbor may be sitting on several millions, that doesn't change the fact that our example fictional 20 member FC can't output more than 240k a week, regardless of which server its on.

    It just seems like punishment against Legacy.

    These numbers are stupid. What FC has 100 active members on 7 days a week farming and donating 100% of their earnings to a house they may or may not win.
    It will take forever for any mid to small sized FC's to even get a house.
    Not to mention the whole sh** storm that will ensue with FC leaders pocketing peoples money and disappearing.

    Well we have a new reason for players not to join a Legacy server, and it comes from Naoki Yoshida himself. He has turned what was a fake rivalry in the Beta Forums (Legacy vs Non Legacy discrimination) into a part of FFXIV game design for new content. Who's to say he won't pull this crap again in the future?

    Exactly this, from materials alone I can make roughly 60-80k a day. It is simple and you don't even need a maxed gather/crafter. Look on the market board for the items you can make/gather, see what items are selling well and at reasonable prices then go obtain those items and list them, babow! You have yourself a nice wad of gil. More people should start offering advice rather than complaining about those who do.

    EDIT: Deleting this as it was not my original intention. That was one of the main reasons I left WoW...it became work, not play anymore. You log in everyday to repeat the same daily quests and the same dungeons. You either do it, or be shut out of half the content available to players.

    You're assuming that a player's entire daily earnings go towards the FC. Yay!!! Not happening!
