EDIT: Congratulations, OP! You've been graced with my 100th post! *throws a party*
It's cute how everyone on this forum thinks that a Terms of Service agreement actually holds any sort of legal weight. You cannot side-step legal boundaries just by including things like that in your ToS, and it's pretty much universally accepted by courts that nobody actually reads terms of service agreements. I'm not saying I think we should be compensated for this, that's completely ridiculous - but people on this forum put way too much stock in ToS'. They aren't a legal force-field. Blizzard was forced to compensate and recall Diablo 3 in several countries due to the fact that the box did not make it clear about online requirements and down-times, despite the fact that it made it very clear in the ToS.

I didn't say it was legal. I just said (well, in so many words) that SE ain't gonna do sh*t for self-entitled plebeians as long as they don't have to. THAT'S what a Terms of Service is. They can say F U for as long as they like, if they like, and they are under no obligations to give any f*cks.

Maintenance is something that they are not giving refunds for, nor will a single day of interrupted service hold any sort of water in a court of law, especially when that company states, explicitly, that you're PAYING for maintenance. Oh no, you missed a day. Go milk a cow or hug your children.

At the risk of sounding like too much of a jerk, you DO bring up valid points. You were just aiming them in the wrong direction. Hat tip to you, sir.
