It's not challenging in the least. Just very time consuming...don't confuse the 2.
You're just a silly elitist who think you matter more than others, just cause you played XI a lot.
Actually you matter less, cause SE rather want many casuals, than a few elitists.

I'm curious as to the system you're using, because I'm in a FC with people who have a lot of crafts at 50 but not enough gil to push for a large house despite having the 51st largest FC on our world.

Your post actually really confuses me, you seem to agree that they got it the wrong way around and immediately afterwards you say that housing being expensive is something we should stop crying about. Just a little perplexed and confused. D=
I assume you expect that the money for a house should be obtainiable under a week. That is unrealistic and the exact thing that has been killing the game so far. This 8 mil goal is something you need to work for more than a week for. And on the other point you made, that is just a casual FC. I do a coil static that beats all of Coil including Twintania on my PLD. There are many ways to make money besides crafting. I could probably make more than a mil a week if I was really determined.

i literaly cannot believe how dumb some of these white knights are on here.
you realise they spent a lot of money developing and hyping this content right, content that almost nobody will be able to use? you realise not even legacy members, who suposedly stockpiled milions of gil, can afford these?

this is a massive slap in the face from the producer to all the fans. this coupled with the inane nerfs on things nobody complained about as well as the crazy lock outs on EVERYTHING might just be the final straw for many people. and mmos need people to survive. yes that includes casuals mostly. not your 5% elitist population

I'd probably argue that the hardcore crowd that rushes to endgame and then quits when no company can ever meet the demands of them (they consume far more content quicker than can be pushed out) are the quicker to jump from MMO to MMO. The people in the "casual" crowd are usually those stopping to smell the roses, and taking longer to do things, which translates into a longer subscription. They don't get to content so fast that they outpace the developers.

Anyway.. this was the wrong feature to decide to go hardcore on. Housing, in any game I have ever played, is usually cheap enough to be available to all players. It's a casual feature that typically the casual or roleplaying crowd seems to enjoy more and actually partake in more than the hardcore grind players. So making that feature the only one in the game that requires any sort of grind really isn't the smartest move and I can understand why people are upset.

In addition to that, farming gil is not challenging, it's time consuming (unless of course, you're good at playing the market). I am all for challenging content, but I have a distaste for major timesinks.. those are not challenging, and they rarely ever result in a feeling of achievement for me. It's always more of a "well at least that's over with now".

You know, relics costed 100+ mil in FFXI, and Mythic weapons were over 300++ mil. Houses are clearly going to be a luxury item, not a casual reward you get from grinding dungeons or defeating 3 easy bosses. Hope you guys understand and stop crying about RMT and having things become hard. Boo hoo.... Get with the program and learn about past MMOs that were actually challenging for once. This is a huge plus for the FFXI veterans.
I think you're confusing 'challenging' with 'hideously time-consuming and unrealistic for the majority'

I think its fine, these items should be 'hideously time-consuming and unrealistic for the majority', else there will be situation, that they will be bought with people who just logged in earlier after maintenance.

If nobody can buy them, prices will drop in some time (as was stated in patch notes). If somebody will buy them, then everything is ok and there is no reason to complain about prices.

P.S. And yes, I am one of them, who will not be able to buy a house. I'm fine with it, it is not for everyone.

It never ceases to amaze me how the wannabe "hardcore" players feel the need to put down the casual players.

How dare those dirty casuals want anything!

It's honestly amusing, because actual hardcore players never say things like that. True hardcore players are very aware that the hardcore population is extremely small - probably less than 5% of the overall population (and that's being generous). True hardcore players are aware that casual players are an integral part in any MMO. They pay the bulk of the subscription revenues. They tend to stay subscribed longer than more "hardcore" players, who finish content and then unsub until the new content comes in. They provide the stuff server economies run on. They are the farmers. They are the crafters. They are the people who make everything function as it should by virtue of being there and being active. The casual players are the pool from which more hardcore players recruit from. They are the players who take in newer players and teach them the ropes of raiding - in a safe, fun environment. And those players, should they ever decide to reach for more, are standing on the foundation the casual players built for them.

Casual players are the lifeblood of any MMO. Be careful, o wise wannabe "hardcore" player. When you turn the casual playerbase away, subs drop and content suffers. You have only to look at what happened in World of Warcraft when the casual playerbase (which had ballooned during Wrath of the Lich King) was discouraged and ultimately driven away by the developers' desire to cater to more "hardcore" players, leaving casual players with nothing to do.

You need casual players far more than they need you.
