lol, maybe for 6m, well... at least people have some reason to earn money again.

I think the primary thing here the development team did not in fact calculate is that by the time anyone can actually afford to buy a house, there's going to be thousands of millions more gil generated and the prices would be completely moot at that point.
It's as if they didn't consider how much the average person has and how many members are in the average company and only took into consideration how much gil has been generated by RMTs and people who do nothing but grind money and sell Titan runs (and most of those people can't even afford it).
I manage to get far more gil than the average person on my server, but even if 8 of us in my FC managed to make the same amount, we still wouldn't be able to afford it for ages.
What is the point of releasing content for people to enjoy and hyping up that content if no one can actually use that content until months down the road? You might as well have sold the houses at release and just implement furniture now because it would only be now people (very few) would be able to afford it.
Don't worry, all the RMT groups will just go and buy all the land plots they can, and you'll be able to get yours for a couple hundred IRL.
Almost willing to put down money on it happening.
Aegis / Durandal / Gungnir / Masamune / Ridill, are the only severs that have the 625m house and they are all Legacy JP servers. NA/EU Legacy is 312m. Thats almost half of what the JP Legacy players have to pay. Probably due to the fact they held on to more gil.
Really bummed about the prices.
I'm new to this game, was totally unimpressed by launch and leveling, but I stuck around because I was really looking forward to the housing. I was chomping at the bit to work with my guild to get a small house but...yeah. Unless you're a super large guild (which doesn't happen because all there is is 8 man content...) good luck. I don't know how the super high prices are going to fix anything. The only people that can afford them are people who buy gil...which is going to create massive demand for gil farmers and bots, which is going to make the bots even worse.
I'll stick around until player housing comes out, in hopes that it won't be this ridiculously overpriced. But if it is...count me and my husband out.
Target audience is extremely crucial. Player housing has always been more of a RP/Casual aspect to any MMO, and it makes very little sense to make it solely accessible to the hardcore crowd. I don't mean hardcore as in raiding coils with the best gear in the game, either. I mean hardcore as in having the time and energy to dedicate to churning out 1 mil+ a day with crafting, gathering, or item flipping.
Balmung is one of the unofficial roleplay servers, and the legacy one at that. We got shoved into the higher price brackets, but to be quite honest? A lot of roleplayers just play the game to...roleplay. I personally enjoy all facets of any MMO I play, but most of my FC is clueless when it comes to things like playing the market or reluctant to take the time they could be RPing or PvEing to level DoH/DoL classes.
Also, Yoshi P did say that the housing would not cost nearly this much when it was announced, and thus many of us had unclear expectations.

You're just acting entitled and whining because you didn't have the foresight to need to generate 8 times as much gil as a normal person on a normal play schedule makes because you're not hardcore enough, not dedicated enough, and just bad at working the markets that flux and change so violently due to player undercutting.
(Does anyone see how much sense half the people who post the paragraph above make?)
What? The ultimate house not supposed to be bought day one? No way....

What are you on about. Every player is secretly a superhuman capable of vast marketing/gil gathering but chooses not to on a playstyle basis. You're just acting entitled and whining because you didn't have the foresight to need to generate 8 times as much gil as a normal person on a normal play schedule makes because you're not hardcore enough, not dedicated enough, and just bad at working the markets that flux and change so violently due to player undercutting.
