Materia + catalysts! Keep them Disciple of the Land only!

With the mention of them being "obtained through gathering" I am sure hoping this means gathering classes, botony, mining, fishing, and NOT just any old farming.

So like this if you are for keeping these among the 3 classes who will give them even more of a purpose/role with this upcoming system.


Please dont let those deaspected crystals be the catalyst!

Honestly I think for something like that everyone should have a way to obtain it without having to rely on few classes one could haven't even touch yet. Else we go back to old mmos habits where you were forced to exp a dwarf to spoil stuff. You don't give a class the attenction it deserves by forcing the need of it

Wont happen. Gathering classes will be able to obtain them "perhaps in wider variaty than others, or specific materia can only be gathered" But them exclusively obtaining them will never happen.

Catalysts will only be obtainable via gathering methods.

Or you know, talk to people in your linkshell that gather as a main profession, or maybe take up the market wards? MMOs are based on interaction with other people, its not that difficult. All the loners wanna be self efficient.

Jynx gatherers are only gping to be farming the catalysts for the materia system. The player themselves will be creating the materia through use of their equipment and crafters will be binding the item + materia + catalyst the community reps explained this in detail .....

Indeed I understand this. The question in the OP was "Please let Materia + Catalysts be gathering only" and I responded to that question. The simple answer was both will not be gathering exclusive.

Thankfully the community rep came in and cleared the issue up as to wether catalysts would be exclusivley gathered or not. I'm still curious as to how we will obtain catalysts, hopefully some new form of gathering because otherwise we are going to see a massive flood of raw materials into the market.

Thats like saying battle classes should be able to make their own gear though since crafters can. This would actually make gatherers have a use, which they currently dont.

No need to get yourself in a twist about it. Not that I care anyways, the point is that Materia will not be gathered exclusively by gatherers or maybe not at all. Chances are we will be only gathering catalysts. Hopefully they allow us to turn out weapons into materia as well I'd love to get something to put on a new hatchet that isn't +Str.
