If the myth cap was higher, you "guys" would have just started these threads a month earlier. Same sh!t, same story, but different thread.Anyone who has the time to grind more than 300 myth tomes a week is punished for using armory when they can roll an alt and get double the amount plus another set of lockouts from now until the foreseeable future when the level cap is finally raised.
You've already said to ignore the armory system now you are saying it's fine. If you want to be an effective white knight then you should try a less schizophrenic argument.
But...but... I can't get the best gear from it or get anything from helping people, there's no point!!!!!
Lockouts are annoying, yes - I don't think anyone would honestly disagree with that. For example, way back when you were grinding out Philo for your DL pieces you always felt like you were working toward something at a consistent pace and every new piece you got felt like an accomplishment. Now compare that to the current 300 Myth restriction, where you log in on Monday, cap, and still can't afford a new AF+1 piece. It does feel nice when you do get it the next week, but you don't get that immediate gratification like you did with Philo.
Now, since we're talking about Coil, lets look back at older dungeons in 2.0. When you got a rare or Aetherial piece of gear, it was exciting and rewarding - especially if you knew that it was there and you were grinding out the dungeon to get it (see: Brayflox). With Coil, you go through once a week, if you get a piece it feels nice but if you don't it feels like you just wasted a week. Even if you're happy that your friends got gear, it will still frustrate you that you put in all those hours and got no loot for yourself out of it. Other dungeons, if this happens, you can go back and run it again... but because Coil has a lockout it's RNG once a week.
CT's loot lockout is an ... interesting? solution to this problem. One item a week, can run the dungeon as many times as you want. You can't get a bunch of pieces but you can at least get one and when you get it you'll feel good about it. Unfortunately this lockout is on ilvl80 gear - which is good for filling missing spots, but obviously putting this restriction on Coil would feel way more gratifying.
I don't really understand why anyone would be against that sort of loot lockout on Coil? I think it'd actually be the best way to handle it, even. One item for one job every week, that way you can probably gear up 2 jobs before the next patch. That seems pretty decent to me and casuals always have the option of capping Myth every week. I feel like we'll soon see this sort of lockout on Coil, or a change to a 3 day lockout. Eventually it'll be removed, probably with Turns 6-10 in 2.2. If you've played an MMO before you should really know by now that this WILL happen. There's no question, any lockout implemented is for barring people from completing the content immediately and once they introduce a higher ilvl it won't be needed anymore. Same thing goes for CT.
Something to consider is that they could actually change the lockout in 2.1, they just haven't announced it yet. I guess we'll see in 4 days.
The lockout is there to keep subs. They are a business, their purpose is to make money. If you don't enjoy the game, stop playing. Don't spend your money here. If you can only find 2 hours worth of things to do in the game every week, the games just not for you.
I'm not going to say everything is perfect in the game. But it is a new game, regardless what 1.0 players think, and will take a bit to correct everything. I encourage all those complaining to please as has been said, vote with your wallet, because most of us enjoy the game and are sick of listening to you complain. You aren't forced to play by any means. Thanks!
The lockout is there, and it's going strain subs. They've already lost money on bad moves before with this title. You enjoy the game, but it locks you out of playing. Don't spend your money here. If you can only participate 2 hours worth of actual challenging content in the game every week, the games just not what Yoshi said it'd be. I'm not going to say everything is perfect in the game; But it is a new game with 3 year old character data that was ported over and several communities already capped out; regardless what new players think. I encourage all those complaining to, as has been said, stop blaming the player for deficiencies and to stop defending artificial limitations; because most of us enjoy the game and are sick of listening to you say lock outs are needed. You shouldn't be forced not play by any means. Thanks!
Enough said. I'm glad both sides can finally agree on something. Complaining is one way to go about things, but I bet you that I know a way to get change to actually happen....
Just two things, be careful what you wish for, and the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Personally I don't think the lockouts need to be abolished, I think they need to be based on your equipped job or changed in some way to allow the armory system to shine. The fact that making alternate characters allows you to have an advantage over somebody who has all their jobs on a single character really blows me away. The game boasts the armory system yet supports making alternate characters, and charges additional money for them unless you sub for 6 months. I want to experience the content on other jobs in order to make my gameplay more diverse and I want to be able to help the people in my FC who are struggling to find a group for the content due to our group of 8 being full.
That's what happened to mine too :/ We had up to 105 members (most active but only around 50ish on at a time), subscriptions started, dropped to around 30 or so, then some people got their first 50 and stopped getting on, some people said they were taking a break, some said nothing, so about down to 20, then free transfers happened and we dropped down to around 10 or so on at a time. Hoping most who said they're taking a break come back, but I doubt it.
I totally agree with you and I hope they make some kind of change but why do you have to play with the same 7 people ever week in your FC. You want to help, change it up a little bit. The 7 people you play with probably have COIL on farm. Why don't you help other members by splitting that group and taking in more members and create more groups. You say you want to play with friends but you choose to play with the same 8 people every week, you're bascially excluding everyone else in your FC. It's the system we have for now, keep on complaining until they make the changes but until then, work around it. Work with what you have. Playing with the same 7 people every week just means that you don't really want to play with those other people or help them at all. IMHO.
