I think what people are missing here, is that the reason we melee get the damage increase is so that our total damage done after spending time away from melee range, is roughly on par with that of Ranged DPS>

Titan and Garuda are horrible for me as a Monk. Every time i finally get my 3 stack GL and full rotation going .. he jumps/weights/landslide and buffs fall off while evading, and i need to start again. DRG's have the same issue, every jump restarts our entire rotation from the ground up.

Compare the time taken as a Monk or DRG to achieve maximum DPS and the time taken for a BRD or BLM.
THAT is what the boost is addressing.
