You need a certain Rank for the FC-Housing. So creating now a small FC to get you a housing won't probably work out.

Yeah with 3 people it took a whole week to max rank the FC without even trying so I seriously doubt that would be much of a roadblock.

I think he means standing with the grand companies. Rank 5 is the easy part. Becoming allied with your grand company takes weeks, months even depending on size of FC. I have a feeling this is what some of the stuff will be based on.

Before doing something like that, they should stop trying to kill the FC in this game, we would be happy enough with that!

I could see GC rep being tied to which city you can buy a FC House in.

I also don't understand the people making a FC for their Coil or such statics, seems like an LS would be a far better choice.

All a FC for raiding does is screws yourself out of inventory space. Since that is the ONLY useful perk in a FC. In fact when I want to go out and grind choco xp I can pick up the 5 percent xp perk and go in a endgame FC I would NEVER see that perk. And linkshells have always been a better system until they started adding useful perks to "guilds" problem is SE gave us no such perks. After 2.1 the extended consumables will be decent since the buff lasts through death but its hardly enough reason to lose 150 inventory slots.

I think the real reason why we can't enter CT with a full alliance, is that we can't form an alliance outside of the raid... Yet. They are probably still working on the party system to allow players to form alliances via the linkshell, fc, social and search features. Once that's done, they could implement the support for queuing up alliances in the duty finder.

I just think that they did not have enough time to implement this in conjunction with CT for the 2.1 patch and couldn't have the players wait till 2.2 (or even 2.3) before releasing all of it in 1 patch. I mean, let's be honest, the game is in dire need of more content. We all know that. So, I see this as a 2-step implementation in which releasing the content (CT) had the highest priority.

I haven't heard of anyone leaving their FC to form their own just to get themselves a house. Personal housing will be added later and those should be much less expensive, so what kind of sense would that make in the first place?

left mine to make my own FC. i dont have the patience to wait until summer for my own house. solo leveling a FC is tedious so im enlisting an alt to help out. as long as the requirement isnt something like guild rank 10 ill be ready withing a week or 2.

I left a decent size FC to make my own just for housing. Don't need a FC when LS's can do the same thing. I get to pick what actions I want and have more storage without the need to worry if someone is going to steal my stuff.

The weirdest part about the video contest isn't this silly FC-housing nonsense; it's that Squeenix's Material's Usage License is extremely unfriendly to video-makers.

You may not materially alter or modify the Materials, except:
You may add your own voice-over, and you may edit, combine, mash-up, mix and match the Materials with other FFXIV Materials;

You may not combine or synchronize the Materials with third party content (e.g., a mash-up), but you may include the Materials alongside third party content (e.g., before or after in the same video) as long as you also have permission from the original copyright owner);

You may only use music as it is incorporated in FFXIV;
When showing gameplay, you may not replace the FFXIV music with third party music;
You may not play FFXIV music alone (i.e., without accompanying gameplay footage), or with third party materials;
You may not use the song track entitled "Answers."

I've never seen an MMO with such restrictive regulations regarding creative works. I mean, what the hell, Squee?

Well, even if we did not hear much about it lately, there will be also FC-exclusive Content; To name one there will be FC Summons. Would be actually nice to have an update regarding that from SE.
