Tanky fun time; What off-the-wall things have you tried?

So I'd like to preface this with the following: There is always more to learn about tanking and how to apply your role/abilities in any given situation. Now, what about crazy/odd/silly mixed up situations, and trying to win things differently?

Recently me and some fellow FC members cleared WP with all of us on Paladin.

It was a blast - but we all discovered some interesting quirks with the enmity generation in FFXIV.

I ask; what odd-ball strategies and/or fun situations have you tried putting yourself in (as a Tank) just to see if you can do it or not?

What crazy things have you tried/enjoyed?

I spiritbonded my halloween event costume in a low level dungeon. Since it's level 1 and takes every other piece of equipment off (except accessories), a WHM has to be super conservative.

Tried to wipe my entire party with each of the relic quest bosses just before the end of the fight so I could take a screenshot showing that I'm the last one standing.

Clearly, the lack of screenshots show my success thus far.

Similar to you i've done a WP run, but with me as a War and 3 WHM...it was hilarious...they kept me alive with combined regen and a benediction here and there and destroied (yes destroied) everything with holy. Seeing how fast the mobs died was the funniest thing everXD

A full WAR party sounds like fun, not as hard as an all PLD party tho.

I think the other PLD had +1 sword and Shield so he tanked while I was stun bot.

Not me, but one of my old BC group's PLDs would spin the final AK boss around in the center of the room. His goal was to hit the ranged players with its tail swipe and cause as much chaos as possible.

It worked.

As a BRD, I say bring it. :P Would suck for actual caster classes, though.

On a related note, I've had runs where we told the tank to just stand in the middle of the room and we would all eat Catastrophe. Remarkably smooth runs if you have the DPS for it.

I think the biggest thing is the learning curve with 4x PLD or even 3x DPS + PLD. You have to change how you pull. Tanking everything outright doesn't always work either so you have to get creative with your hate generation. The biggest challenge was the Tonberry King and managing his Grudge mechanics.

I feel like I learned a lot about controlling battle flow, using position, and how you salvage "un-winnable" situations doing runs like this.

I made sure to set cross-class Cure/Stoneskin/Protect before we started.
