These and the things Sorel mentioned are all things I was concerned about :/the jobs can greatly limit cutomization and enhance uniqueness without being class specific.
BLM trait, enhanced offensive magic by 15%
BLM skills Xmagic, mana pool, focused spell (increases recast time and dmg)
cross class limits, certain buff skills, and all cures X
just that alone would totally limit and define a role, regardless of weather you were conjurer or thaumaturge
you can do similar things with any job role, and apply it to most classes that would be likely to use it.
We'll Get jobs yay, but they will end up being bastards of the past incarnations of themselves instead of being true nostalgia.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
Agreed! +1I really don't like this when it comes to conjurer. I don't want to be forced on to WHM when I want to play it as a BLM. Sure CON could just as likely become BLM but then THM would have to become WHM which makes even less sense and again I don't want to be forced into playing a WHM. I HATE HATE HATE healing. The only fair way to deal with the mages is to allow CON to become either WHM or BLM. You don't even have to allow instant switching of it. THM can become some other mages.
The worry that comes from this, is if they have been thinking this the whole time, and they don't know if they will have two jobs per class, then is this even going to be ready in time for 1.18, or are they just going to put the one job into 1.18 and open up other jobs down the line.
With the update planned for this month and testing going on now, (assuming) I sure hope they work the system to allow more then one job per class...
I'm excited for the patch and new info, so hopefully we'll get some more clarification soon.

all they have currently stated defacto, is that each class will only unlock one job, the next question is, is it locked to the job that unlocked it, the probable answer is yes, but since the system isnt out yet, and they have avoided announcing if that is the case, there remains a possibility for it not to be locked to one class only.Agreed! +1

Perhaps not locked to that class only, but to a select few classes.all they have currently stated defacto, is that each class will only unlock one job, the next question is, is it locked to the job that unlocked it, the probable answer is yes, but since the system isnt out yet, and they have avoided announcing if that is the case, there remains a possibility for it not to be locked to one class only.
I'd rather see what changes they are actually making to the classes themselves before making judgement on which jobs are better equipped with which class.
I'm pretty sure the devs cleared that up already and they said 1 job per class.
That essentially makes gladiator obsolete. So why even have it in the first place?Spoke to the dev. team to try and wrangle some more details regarding the upcoming job system. The current thinking is to have one job for one class. So for example, if you are a gladiator, the job you could unlock would be paladin, etc. Right now, we can't give any further details about the possibility of having multiple jobs per class.
To try and stave off the coming flood of "So if gladiator becomes paladin, then what will xyz class unlock?" You'll have to stay tuned for more details in the future!
Kind of stupid.
Jobs should just be role specialisations which any class can perform.
I agree with this, I dont understand why we get only 1 job per class. If Conjurers only turn into white mages (which is wierd because they get the only elemental nukes) then whats the point to playing the conjurer? Your advanced class is a white mage so you might as well make conjurer a white mage and totally abolish the class. Why give us the option to specialize in a certain area per class if you only have one option?
I was thinking multiple jobs per class so people can branch off into their favorite role. Conjurers that want to nuke go blm, healers go whm. I know this has been brought up time and time again as "well what about X class". Thats for the developers to decide, we still have arcanist guild after all.
Gladiators could branch off into a dps class or tank class, etc etc.
