    Yeah, I forgot to mention this. The original concept of PVP was we were going to craft airships to fight each other. I think this was a concept way before 1.0 was even released and then kind of disappeared.

    I was also really looking forward to that, too.

    I don't expect every concept to come to fruition, but it just seems they are taking away a lot more than they are adding. ;_;

    I ran about 30 hamlets which were about 25 min each + 15 min wait. All I got was 1 vortex seal for my work, which I got 100 philosophy for in 2.0. Almost always played crafter because people always filled the non crafter roles before they started shouting because it was way easier to find non craft roles, the set up was 3 doh 2 dol, 2 whm, 1 pld. This was the most boring event in existence. Most of the time I spent watching TV while doing this because it didn't require much attention at all. 1.0s had terrible drop rates drop rates. 50% chance that your seal drops and a 1/8 chance that the game randomly gives it to you so a 6% chance you win the seal you needed. You needed 3 from each zone. Needless to say I didn't finish any relics in 1.0

    I am so glad this was taken out because now I have all 9 relics done, terrible RNG is never good for drops.

    SE seems intent on keeping crafting content to a minimum....which I really dislike. This is what they should do with crafting:

    - Material drops in dungeons. Maybe these materials can be combined with dungeon drops to give them boosted stats. Or the drops can be used to craft special accessories/belts.
    - Bring back Hamlet....it was fun!
    - Make FATE bosses or special monsters drop crafting materials. On top of making certain materials more "difficult" to obtain, it could help populate lower level FATEs
    - Stop giving out so much gear as quest rewards. It makes most crafted gear absolutely useless.
    - Gear tier should be like this: quest rewarded gear < crafted gear < crafted gear requiring dungeon drops = dungeon gear

    Only if it creates good and fun content. Sorry, but Hamlet defense was the most boring content i have played in a game ever.

    Well here's to looking at patch 2.2 and .3 hoping that they add more intricate stuff for crafters and gatherers. I've been wanting them to have their own story or class quests involved in running a business, getting customers for their wares, etc., of course that's almost an entirely different game I guess.

    In the mean time as others have said, we have group crafting coming up, as well as raising your own garden in the future. Here's to hoping for more, as I was also excited about FFXIV doing something different with crafting. It really needs more ways to differentiate itself from the competition I feel.

    I think FATEs for DoL/DoH is possible. Even finding a way to link them up with DoM/DoW. I feel the game is going in the right direction. How many modern MMO's out there have player towns?

    While I liked the attempt in 1.0 to make crafters/gatherers into full fledged classes...

    It wound up being one if 1.0's many "good idea on paper, terrible idea in practice"

    I do like how hamlet defense involved doh/dol, the only thing i didn't like about it was the stupid ranking system. Leave that behind and put that in.

    Or create FATEs which DoH/DoL can participate in.

    Very true, I don't understand why we can craft the best gear in the game. That is so cool! Make materials drop from Coil so crafters have to use it. That way it would essentially be the same thing but at least crafters would be involved. Don't let this system go to waste!
