WP: taking out the adds in last fight

People kill the ads? My group just ignores them altogether and burns down the boss while the tank moves him in a circular pattern. Less hassle that way, although it's getting harder to do now that we are over geared for the dungeon since we only build a LB1.

WHM I play with just goes cleric stance and drops a holy, he can one shot the adds though so that helps.

Then he just drops cleric and continues healing until more tons come up.

I always holy down the tons. Having the DPS never having to leave the boss makes the boss even more of a cake walk. In the mean time I'm stone IIing and stoneskinning the tank.

I've recently started doing WP a lot (not ready for any speed runs yet), and as a DRG, I prefer to be able to just focus on the Tonberry King. If my DPS partner is a BLM, then I have no problems doing just that. But the last couple times I've run it with a Summoner as the DPS, they haven't been able to handle the adds (either that or they were killed too fast, I'm not really sure), suddenly there's chaos and then everyone's dead. After the wipe, the SMN asks if I can take the adds, so I do, running around killing little tonberries. Since I have to run to each one to kill it, it's a slow enough pace that they don't stack too fast, so the tank isn't overwhelmed for stabby time. Eventually, I ignore the little guys and focus on the king, usually throwing down the LB to kill it. Works well for me.

I still haven't done a run with a WHM who is comfortable rocking the Cleric Stance and throwing down Holys. But that's probably because the healer in my FC who does WP the most is a SCH.

Our group has the WHM holy the first couple sets then I take the last as a BLM. we keep it to 3-4 per grudge, I am sure there are faster ways to do it, but my fire 1 takes them out 99% in one shot. No idea where that 1% comes from but once in a great while there is one still after a hit. if three are close together a couple fire 2s when close to the boss also works. normally we only have 3 sets maybe the 4th sneaks in before the boss it close enough to dying to ignore them.

I Stone II + Aero the adds, it leaves them with a sliver of health and the DoT ticks and kills them before they get to me.

For the final large group of tonberries I just sleep them and focus fire on the boss.

when i war my fc just waits for them to get to the center and aoe them with king. i can take the 5 stack grudge with lil issues @ 7500hp. ill sit on a inner beast just in case so whm can holy with dps
when i brd i can kill them really fast so i just get em.. bring to center and wide volley
blm similar, scathe get, fire2

Thanks for the tips everyone! About Stoneskin before the grudge hit...I tried that in a recent dungeon run and even though I cast Stoneskin (I even tried Swifcasting it the third time) as the king starts casting, it still seems to hit for the same amount AND the Stoneskin doesn't get absorbed.

Do I need to pre-emptively cast before he starts casting? If so, I got a lot of learning to do!

If you are curing a Shield Oath'd Paladin in this fight, you can literally cast Regen, Stoneskin, Cure, then wait until Everyone's Grudge, cast Cure II, then repeat. If Paladin could cure themselves for a few hundred more HP they could self heal the entire fight and never be in any danger. It's not a matter of it being an SR strategy or not, you have 3 other party members doing something other than standing there, the least any White Mage can do during this fight is cast Holy.

Yea if you see the box 'HEAR THE SCREAMS OF BLABLABLA' youre too late but its still good to finish the stoneskin so he wont take more dmg after the hit and theres still time to follow with a preemptive cure2 because everybodysgrudge is so slow
