after thinking about it a bit, i kinda have a love-hate relationship with the CT lockout.

i understand what its for, to stagnate the gear progression of the community so we aren't in full ilvl 80 a few days after it lands (with current lockout it takes 6 weeks to fully gear 1 class)

but i still don't like it. mostly because this means i won't be able to get the gear for my paladin (which is mostly ilvl 90) for looks, fortunately, i have bard which is a myth tome heavy class to gear, so i'll just use CT for that instead.

I just think it needs to be more balanced. I think the following tweaks would allow players a more diverse experience, and definitely an ability to enjoy the game more frequently without the feeling of just spinning your wheels and getting nowhere:

Increase philo tomes received in dungeons to make ilvl 70 more obtainable
24 - 72 hour lockout on CT keeps ilvl 80 scarce enough that people won't have full sets for all of their jobs any time soon
Preserve coil lockout and myth cap to keep ilvl90 gear the pinnacle of advancement and long-term dedication

It would still take months to cap out a single job in the best gear, but they will also be able to simultaneously obtain gear for subjobs, making them viable to begin the ilvl 90 content that takes months to complete.

This is the fundamental flaw in SE's plan. They're making a gamble that enough people will wait for those later patches so that it would justify not only the wait itself, but their overall plan too. Thing is, the MMO market isn't what it was in the FFXI days. There are more players now, who will put forth more effort to retain customers if their competitors will not. What blows my mind the most is, Yoshi obviously has taken a lot of concepts from other MMO's into this game, yet the flow of content nor the delivery of content (since the latter is restricting the former in ARR's case, ala ''no small patches'' and ''3 month big patches") and it's those concepts that would really, really help all of the others become cohesive from a players perspective. I firmly believe it won't -ever- be enough because it will be delivered far too late. If you don't grab the players you have in the first few months, it's only going to go downhill from there. GW2 understood this, and now they put out new content every two weeks, or is it a week? Granted, the content may not be amazing all the time, but I was around for the first half dozen of these patches, and they were for the most part pretty darn fun, and I always felt like I had something meaningful to do with my character, as opposed to ARR where I constantly hunger for basic features we may not get until 2.2 or 2.3. My character cannot be meaningful, because there's literally no way to differentiate myself from that next (class). Everyone end game will the same, either ilvl90 gear or ilvl70 crafted. They'll have the same skills, the same traits, and the same ups and downs. The only variation is how the player plays.

That's fine, but it doesn't allow players to truly feel like their excelling in my opinion. Because anyone can grab that class and do the same. If we had some way to augment our skills/traits, we could specialize within our jobs, and diversify content simply by doing it differently. To me, this and other problems will continue to taint any new content that's released. Along with the delivery method and the timing, I really think the desire to continue will deteriorate for many players who are still playing. There is a reason my F list is a graveyard, and I very much believe what I described above is why. The systems in this game are conflicting with each other in a way that prevents a good deal of content from being fun or rewarding, instead it feels more like a chore, and to some degree for me personally, a job. I played 1.0, now 2.0 and I don't feel like this game is doing very well honestly. Someone will say ''I see tons of people all the time!" Yeah, so do I, but they aren't doing anything. They just stand there. From experience, if you are invested in something it's hard to let it go, but being in that boat with this game, the direction that it's going in currently is making it extremely easy for me to let go.

The only thing we know from the comments in this forum is that those in this forum may not be patient enough but says nothing about the majority of those who avoid the forums and just play the game.

OP I am sorry but what is locking anyone from attaining level 70 DL gear? The only gear "locked out" weekly is Coil and Ilvl90 tome gear . . . All other gear can be attained with only the input of time and effort . . .

Nothing, OP would rather skip i70 and head to i80 even though i70 only takes 4-9 runs per item no lockout. He thinks that if they remove the lockout from CT, he will want to run CT 4-9 times per item.

And what's the point of putting a lockout on gear that is not the best? I can understand coil having the bs weekly lockout, but why CT? Who would want to do CT more than once if they're not going to get rewarded after they get their item for the week?

My question is, why are we being forcefully pulled down to the levels of extreme casuals? This game has been a monday-only enjoyment for some time now (yet we're still paying for a full month, imagine how much money SE would make if there was a 'daily payment' method). People from my end-game FC/linkshells barely login in other days, unless they're beginners and have 'tons of stuff to do'.

I don't tell anyone how to play the game. Play it for one hour a week if you want/don't have the time, I don't care. Just don't cry about being left behind because you are not willing to/can't invest in the same amount of time as some other people. This is entitlement at its best. The sad thing is, SE is trying very hard to cater to you (and prolong whatever content they have). The funny thing is, it's always those people who go "you shouldn't have burned through content" even when I haven't cause I transitioned from 1.0. Why do you tell me how to play the game?

At least make the lock-out time reasonable. 3 months to fully gear an alt job with CT equipment? Disgusting.

The CT loot lockout system is quite literally the worst system I have ever seen.

So let's say you're the only MNK in your group... MNK armor drops off the first boss. Yay! You lot and win it. You're the only MNK. You're the only one that needs MNK. Next boss drops MNK again. Yay...? No. Not only are you unable to lot it but who in their right mind would roll on that MNK piece? If they do, they will be unable to lot on their own weekly piece. Can you imagine all the armor pieces you will see destroyed that you or someone else could have used? This lockout system is insane.

There is no point. I'm just stating the obvious. OP wants to skip plain and simple. SE doesn't want you to skip. I imagine i80 being = i70 craft 5x meld. There is nothing stopping people from getting i70 craft 5x meld except time and effort. No lockout. If you look at the 'hardcore' players they most are not in DL, they are in 5x i70 melds if not i90 in the slot. Heck most i70 5x meld jewels are better than i90. No such lockout. In 2.1, all recipes will be 9 philosophy items = 1125 tomes. So 12 runs (15 min run = 3 hours) and 5x meld you can have a jewel better than i90. No lockout, just time and effort.

Like others have stated you can do 99.9% of all content in full DL (- Coil turn 5)
