My point was they intended to lower it, not how long it took them. So why would anyone expect them to raise it now?
I understand what you mean but the lockout on gear that isn't even BIS is pretty ridiculous. Putting a lockout on CT gear would be like them having a lockout on WP/AK gear.I think 55 is rather low, but 70 is too high. You don't really even need 100% Darklight to do Coil 1/2, and CT will almost certainly be significantly easier than that.
Remember that this item level minimum averages all of your gear... with an ilvl 70 limit, someone must basically have EVERY single piece slotted with Darklight or better to enter the raid. That's really overkill and not necessary.
I think 60-63 would be a fairer number. That'd allow for a nice mix of AK (or stuff from the new dungeons, which will be ilvl60) and Darklight, while giving a bit of leeway for that odd level 49 ring someone may not have had the opportunity to replace just yet.
I do think 55 is a bit on the low side though. What if one of the other alliance parties has absolutely nothing but bare-minimum ilvl 55 players in it and they simply can't clear their part for whatever reason? Will the progress for the other two groups be stalled?
The reason I've even said anything about making it ilvl70 requirement is so that Darklight and ilvl70 crafted gear doesn't become obsolete. Cause other than dragging out content is see no other reason to put a loot lockout on lower level gear that isn't even going to be BIS. Having the ilvl requirement 70 would force everyone to get DL/ilvl70gear and then it would never become obsolete.

Arkista Valentine- Excalibur.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Crystal Tower can be cleared in full AF plus only partial AK/WP gear, with a iLv55 weapon. To require iLv70 would be to require gear that is appropriate for Binding Coils. It doesn't make sense.

Item Level 60 is good enough.
Keep in mind that it's average item level. Meaning every slot would have to at least the minimum amount or much higher ilvl in other slots to overcompensate.
I was disappointed in the fact that you couldn't make a 24 man party to begin with for CT, but now the gear requirement is 55? LOL!!! CT is going to be such a joke. That on top of weekly loot limits, i think SE makes a list of everything the players don't want and put it into the game. They have literally turned something that was supposed to be an awesome addition to the game, into something worse than i could have ever imagined. Why are they so obsessive over putting weekly limits on everything? Just let the players play at their own pace, whether it be fast or slow.
Now not only do you not get to raid with your FC, you have the chance to be paired up with awful randoms with crap gear too, way to go SE!!!
I think the ilevel should be MINIMUM i65, that way at least some darklight/crafted gear is needed, along with AK gear. THAT would be no problem.
For gil buyers or those who were able to exploit their way to fortunes early on they may be 'super cheap', for most players I know (including me) 1/2 mil is more than we've EVER had.
You underestimate the RNG gods. I was particularly lucky in that I got three (3) ilvl60 upgrades the first time I ran AK (body, feet, ring). I know for a fact not all share the type of luck I had going from PLD AF to Hoplite pieces on their first, much less consecutive runs of AK as well as WP. Most folks end up having a bunch of tomes from their runs and end up having to get darklight gear. The lockout in that regard meets its goal of limiting distribution of gear from CT (those of you who clamored for "rare" gear to make you feel special got your wish, by the way) while not making darklight gear obsolete. You can leapfrog darklight with myth tome gear, but with the tome cap in place that would take significantly longer, and you will need something to hold you over. That's the lame part the loot lockout isn't preventing people from skipping DL/ilvl70 gear. So if it was raised to ilvl70 it would force player to get darklight/ilvl70 crafted gear hence the gear would never become obsolete. So the way it sits now I can gear another job in WP/AK gear and get ilvl80 once a week and still skip DL/ilvl70 gear its just going to take months.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

It's surely fun when a crapper 55 geared with crappy accessories, carried, get some free 80 gear better then our weeks of work DL gear hehe
Obiouvsly i strongly agree on a way more strict ilvl requirement about every dungeon on DF
From what I've learned about CT so far, I'm going to have to assume it's more of a new story dungeon over another coil.
From the translation, could it be said that loot chests are only provided at the very end of the raid?
If that's the case, seems like mini boss and trash clear fare with a quirky villain at the end. It's my opinion that if you are expecting some kind of hardcore raid, that you will be disappointed. A fun story battle, with another lottery ticket for loot for the week, but that's probably it. Spirit bond gear time yay!

There are many players who are waiting for the difficulty to be toned down a bit before they challenge the Binding Coil, so we'd like these players to have fun obtaining item level 80 equipment, getting past hard-mode Titan, and gradually progressing through the game.
You understand this is exactly the way loot progression was planned in this game? Non top-tier gear becomes easier to get than it was before. Myth caps go up, difficulties get nerfed, entrance requirement relaxed etc. It's done so that people who are more casual can more easily access the current endgame content. If this weren't done then 6 months down the line new level 50 players will have to compete for places on Titan/WP/Coil/whatever against people rocking full i90s. Even I sigh a little when I see both DDs in a WP DF run are in full AF, even though I know it's unfair.
People will be making the same complaints when Titan gets nerfed: It's surely fun when a crapper 55 geared with crappy accessories, carried, gets his relic while not having to memorise the patterns we spent hours memorising etc etc
Most people doing endgame have at least partial i90s now. Gear from CT will not be as good as gear from coil or even myth gear.
