Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh
I think a lot of the hate for XII came from the plot not being the typical FF plot that most games have. Unfortunately that hate led to SE making XIII linear so they could focus on the plot more. They succeeded in that, it probably has the best story since VII but the linearity was awful until you got to Pulse. That's why I hope SE can take the best from XII and XIII when they produce XV. By the time it comes out the PS3 will be in it's final years so there's no excuse for not maxing the technology in the same way they managed with XII on the PS2.
They should have just made an MMO sequel to XII set in its world with HD graphics, it would have been released sooner and far better than XIV. Makes you wonder where it all went wrong with XIV's world design when they put that much effort into a single player world.

I personally agree with everything you stated above, our only differences lie in what kind of games we like; i put story line and character progression in top priority which is what leads me to my views.
LOL.
Am I the only one who plays FF games for the music and aesthetics?
The gameplay of every single FF game sucks.
I put gameplay as higher priority because if story was more important I could just pick up a classic book. I can play a good game with a bad story but I can't play a bad game with a good story. Story is important for replay value however. It's the reason I kept replaying VII and why I'll replay XIII when I get the chance.

The final straw is when you can no longer grab anymore straws.
Kinda like Mystic Quest got a ton of hate when it wasn't a bad game at all.I think a lot of the hate for XII came from the plot not being the typical FF plot that most games have. I really do not understand all the FFXIV hate (or disapproval). I love FFXIV as is. As long as they continue to add content (as all MMORPG's do) Anything else (tweaked combat, chocobos, etc...) is a bonus. I am one of the ones that will be here regardless of what happens in 1.18. The only thing that would stop me from playing FFXIV is if they cancelled the PS3 version.
