Disc PS3 Vewrsion -> PS4

I purchased the Disc version of FFXIV do we need to buy 'another' copy or will they let us get a copy on PS4 and use our key? anyone know.

For what I've read, current PS3 players will be able to play the PS4 version without the need to purchase another disk, very much like 1.0 players did not need to purchase 2.0 for pc. You just keep paying the monthly fee and more than likely either be given a new registration code/use the one you already have. But yeah, you get to keep your same account and what not.

Not like that's much of a downside at that point. Can't see a reason to need to play on the ps3 once you've upgraded to ps4.

By that logic I can't play the PC version ever again... which isn't the case at all. I've been keeping up with this and noone's said anything about not being able to play on the PS3 afterwards.

No because the PC version is a separate key that you bought and registered.

The PS3 -> PS4 thing basically converts your registration key to a PS4 one making the old PS3 one invalid. They HAVE to do this otherwise no one would bother buying the PS4 version, they would all just buy the PS3 version and upgrade...

However, I doubt that would be the case during the beta period. Maybe when the beta ends. Imagine some serious game breaking bug on PS4 (beta after all), would makes you unable to play at all

I think it would work like this:
1. sign up the account for a PS4 upgrade
2. PS3 registry get changed to PS4 registry (PS3 is not more register on the account)
3. Get a Email with a PSN code to download the PS4 client
4. Client downloading, installing and starting

Not saying this is the case but you do know that ps3/ps4/psp vita are all can all be linked to the same PSN account, the account that will only effect SE part. Also xiv on PSN ps3 is $10 this week discount, cannt wait too boot up xiv on my ps4. For those that haven't seen this here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUDE5DpyT94
