One dungeon i thought would be cool is something based of ipsen's castle from 9, where half of the castle is upside down and the top half is upright. A mechanic would be the controls being inverted when you are in the upside down part of the castle and it constantly flips between the two or something.
You know, I must admit I considered a similar idea for a dungeon would be actually very neat for the game - like Ipsen's Castle, damage and defense are reversed so that end game gear would be practically worthless, at least to a certain point in the dungeon, forcing players to equip low end gear to get through it (and also make it so that gear doesn't Spiritbond and thus not be abused accordingly). One dungeon i thought would be cool is something based of ipsen's castle from 9, where half of the castle is upside down and the top half is upright. Or maybe something like that dungeon in FFIV which was magnetized and if you had metallic armour you were affected with a weight debuff (never mind if the characters are not wearing iron armour).
It would just add some interesting strategies to the regular 'head through, kill the things, click the targets, grab loot and beat the boss' dungeon routine.
They already have a bunch of unused areas in the world as it is, so i'm hoping they will use them down the line. From the Santctum of the Twelve to the Floating City of Nim, there are a lot of potential places left to explore.
I don't know why... but in SE games, I always find areas with a high-tech/magic lunar landscape (like of an extinct advanced civilization) to be eerie.
Make a dungeon that is a maze designed by Cid. Give it a steam punk meets Eorzia feel and make multiple branches so that you always fight 3 bosses, but depending on which paths you choose at intersections, the bosses change.
Would like to see ancient astronauts like thing with prehistoric cave and cave drawings and whatnot with the second half of dungeon being a spaceship.
